Turn off your PS5 Pro, unplug its AC power cord, then use a low-powered handheld vacuum for dust around the vents. Sony also recommends vacuuming dust beneath the removable covers. Use a soft, dry cloth on exterior plastic; do not use chemicals or open the console.
Before cleaning: shut down and unplug the console
- Turn off the PS5 Pro.
- Disconnect its AC power cord from the electricity supply before cleaning the console or connected accessories. Sony’s PS5 Pro Safety Guide makes this a safety requirement.
- Make sure the console is positioned with room for airflow: keep it at least 10 cm from a wall, leave its vents unobstructed, and avoid cramped spaces or long-fibre carpets and rugs.
Vacuum dust from the vents and beneath the covers
Use a handheld vacuum around the vents. PlayStation’s vent-cleaning guidance specifies a low-powered vacuum. Sony recommends removing the covers and vacuuming dust trapped underneath them as an additional cleaning step.

For cover handling, follow the official manual for your PS5 Pro model variant or the User’s Guide available on the console. PlayStation lists regional guide variants, and cover instructions should be checked against the guide matching your unit.

Wipe exterior plastic with a dry cloth
Use a soft, dry cloth on the console’s exterior plastic. Sony cautions against insecticides, volatile substances such as paint thinner, benzene or alcohol, and chemically treated cloths.

Where routine cleaning should stop
Do not disassemble or modify the console. Sony says there are no user-serviceable components inside, so routine owner cleaning should stop at the documented vent and removable-cover steps. The official guidance cited here does not recommend liquids or compressed air for this cleaning task.
If the fan is still noisy
A louder fan does not necessarily mean dust is the cause. PlayStation says the fan may temporarily run faster in some games or applications while cooling the system. Check that vents are clear, the console has adequate clearance, and dust has been removed. If the noise continues after those checks, contact PlayStation Support.
