Unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely before cleaning. Wash the removable basket and pan with warm, soapy water and a nonabrasive sponge; clean the fixed heating area gently with a soft damp cloth or a suitable soft-bristle brush. Never immerse the appliance body or spray or pour water directly onto the heating element. Your model’s manual takes precedence, especially for dishwasher use and instructions for reaching the element.
Before you clean: switch off, unplug and cool
- Turn the air fryer off, unplug it from the outlet and wait until it is completely cool. Philips suggests allowing about 30 minutes for its Airfryer guidance, but cooling time varies; confirm the appliance is no longer hot and follow your model’s manual.
- Remove the basket and pan or drawer as the manual directs. Do not try to clean the heating area while the appliance is connected to power.
Keep the appliance body, cord and plug out of water. Cleaning advice differs by model, so check the manual before using a dishwasher or changing the appliance’s position to reach the element.

Wash the removable basket and pan
- Wash coated removable parts in warm water with dish soap, using a soft, nonabrasive sponge.
- For stuck-on grease or food, soak the parts in soapy water for five to ten minutes, then wipe them clean. Avoid metal utensils, abrasive pads, scouring tools and aggressive cleaners, which can damage nonstick coatings.
- Rinse and dry the parts completely before putting them back.
Dishwasher safety is specific to the appliance and part. Philips says its pan, basket or frying insert is dishwasher-safe; Frigidaire describes dishwasher cleaning for its basket and pan; Bosch says its basket and grid are dishwasher-safe. These instructions do not establish that every air fryer part can go in a dishwasher. Check the manual for your exact model.

Clean the heating element and interior gently
- Follow the manual’s instructions for access. Some manufacturer guidance suggests turning the unit upside down on a soft cloth, but that may not suit every design; do so only if your model’s instructions permit it.
- Wipe the heating area gently with a soft damp cloth or sponge. If debris is stuck, use a soft-bristle brush only if your manual allows it. Philips permits a soft- to medium-bristle brush for stubborn residue and warns that hard-bristle or steel-wire brushes may damage the element’s coating.
- Wipe reachable interior surfaces carefully. Swan Products Limited’s support page says: “Do not pour or spray water directly onto the heating element.” Avoid sharp objects, metal tools and abrasive cleaning materials.
Never immerse the appliance body, cord or plug, and do not spray or pour water into the appliance. If residue cannot be reached without force, stop and consult the manual or manufacturer support.

Dry everything before using the air fryer
Let the basket, pan and heating area dry completely before reassembling or using the appliance. If the unit appears damaged, or debris remains inaccessible, leave it unplugged and contact the manufacturer for model-specific guidance.
