For everyday fingerprints, gently wipe the inner display with a clean, soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. Leave the factory-installed inner-screen film in place, avoid pressure—especially along the crease—and check your exact phone model’s care instructions before using any liquid. Cleaning-fluid permissions differ by manufacturer and model, so a method approved for one foldable is not automatically safe for another.
How to clean the inner screen safely
- Check the exact model’s instructions. Find the current support guidance or manual for your phone before using a damp cloth or disinfecting wipe. Foldable-specific guidance can differ from general phone-cleaning advice.
- Start with a dry cloth. Use a clean, soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. Wipe gently without pushing down, and take particular care at the crease.
- Use moisture only if the manufacturer permits it. Follow the specified liquid and amount, applying it to the cloth or using the permitted wipe—not by spraying the display. Keep moisture away from ports, speakers, microphones, and hinge areas.
- Stop if grime will not come off gently. Do not scrape debris with a fingernail or tool, or rub harder. Consult the maker’s instructions or support channel for the appropriate next step.
Why the factory screen film matters
The inner film is not a universal, user-replaceable accessory. Google warns Pixel Fold owners not to pick at the film’s edges or try to remove it. Samsung says the main-screen film on Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models is designed for those foldables; removing it or using an unofficial film may cause problems. Samsung directs owners to a service center for replacement. If the film is lifting, bubbling, or damaged, do not peel it back or install a generic inner-screen protector; contact the manufacturer’s approved service channel.

Cleaning-liquid guidance depends on the phone
There is no supported universal ranking of cleaning fluids for foldable screens. These examples show why you should follow the instructions for your own device rather than transferring one brand’s permission to another.

What to avoid
- Do not spray cleaner onto the screen. If your model’s instructions permit liquid, apply it only as directed rather than spraying the device.
- Do not use abrasive methods. Avoid scraping, hard rubbing, and pressure on the crease.
- Do not assume common cleaners are safe. Samsung’s general cleaning advice warns against general cleaners, compressed-air sprays, and disinfectant- or bleach-based products. Motorola also warns against bleach and abrasives. Follow the guidance for your exact model, since permissions differ.
- Do not remove or replace the inner film yourself. Use the maker’s approved service process if it is damaged or lifting.
