Claiming a game and installing it are separate steps: redeem a product code (if you have one) to add the game to the right EA Account, then download it from that account’s Library in the EA app. A digital game bought through the EA app is added to the Library automatically.
Before you start: choose the right EA Account
A redeemed code is associated with the EA Account you use, so sign in to the account where you want the game before redeeming it. If you already bought the game digitally through the EA app, it should be added to that account’s Library without a separate code. For a purchase from another seller, check the seller’s instructions to see whether you need to redeem a code.

Redeem a PC game code
EA supports two ways to redeem a PC product code. Use the route specified by the retailer if its instructions require one; otherwise, choose the option that makes it easiest to confirm you are using the intended EA Account.

After successful redemption, the game is added to the EA Account used. EA notes that some older games cannot be redeemed in the app; see the legacy exception below.

Download and install the game from your Library
- Open the EA app and sign in to the EA Account that owns the game or currently has access to it.
- Open Library and find the game.
- Select the game’s download control.
- Review the installation location and language, accept the EA game terms, and choose Download.
- Follow the download progress in the Library. When installation finishes, launch the game from the app.
Labels and screens can vary by app version or game. For game-specific operating system, storage, or hardware requirements, check that game’s official listing or support page; they are not the same for every title. EA’s download and installation instructions describe the general Library flow.
Why a game may be missing from the Library
Check the likely causes in this order before reinstalling the EA app:

- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
- Look at order history. Check your EA Account’s order history and see whether the purchase is still processing. EA says a processed full-game purchase should appear in the Library.
- Check the account. If the order is not there, consider whether you used a different EA Account or email address to buy or redeem the game.
- Confirm code redemption. For a game bought from another seller, check whether you were given a code, whether it was redeemed, and whether the seller has additional instructions.
- Check what you purchased. Only full games appear in the EA app Library. DLC and add-ons are managed from the game’s tile using Manage add-ons; they do not appear as separate full games.
- Check subscription access. If you play through EA Play rather than owning the game separately, confirm that your membership is active. Access that depends on the membership requires it to remain active.
- Refresh the app. If the account, order, code, product type, and membership all check out, clear the EA app cache, restart the app, then sign out and back in. Reinstall the EA app only if those steps do not resolve the issue.

Legacy games that do not follow the usual code flow
Some older titles cannot be redeemed in the EA app. EA lists examples including The Sims, The Sims 2, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Command & Conquer, Medal of Honor, and Crysis, and says these can only be played if you still have the disc. This is a limited exception for certain legacy games, not a general requirement for installing current EA games. Check EA’s code redemption guidance for details.
