Keep a streaming service only if the shows, films, sports, or features your household expects to use before the next billing date justify its full recurring cost. Set a budget, compare actual plans and household use, account for overlap and billing, then cancel, downgrade, or retain each subscription accordingly.
Start with your budget and the real monthly cost
Choose the amount your household is willing to spend on video subscriptions each month. Count add-ons and subscriptions billed through a mobile carrier, app store, retailer, or another third party. Include taxes where they apply, and use the price shown for your own account rather than an old comparison article or an advertised starting price.

For a dated US example, Netflix’s plan page listed these monthly prices on October 4, 2026. Netflix says taxes may apply, and package or add-on arrangements can affect price and extra-member eligibility.

Judge each service by what your household will actually watch
For every subscription, name the programs, sports, film genres, children’s viewing, or live features someone expects to use before the next billing date. Separate a specific upcoming plan—such as following a series or watching a recurring event—from “we might watch something there someday.” A service’s reputation or popularity does not establish that it earns a place in your household’s budget.
Estimate who will watch, how often, and on which screens. If you are unsure, track the service, program, date, and approximate viewing time for a few weeks. Nielsen’s commercial measurement framework tracks content, program and episode viewing, time spent, device, app, and ad-supported versus non-ad-supported tiers; those are useful categories for a simple household log, not a consumer subscription tracker. Its The Gauge reports monthly US television use across platforms and distributors.
Rank #2

- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.

- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
Compare equivalent plan tiers and useful features
Compare what you would actually pay for the tier you need, not just the service name. A less expensive ad-supported plan may suit a household that does not mind ads; another may value ad-free viewing, more simultaneous streams, higher resolution, downloads, or household and member rules enough to pay more. Record only features that affect how your household watches.
- Monthly price for the specific tier, including add-ons and applicable taxes.
- Ad load, resolution, simultaneous streams, and downloads.
- Household or extra-member rules that affect your use.
- Whether the plan is billed by the service or a third party, and how that affects changes or cancellation.
For example, the Netflix US snapshot above shows the difference between two-device 1080p plans and a four-device 4K Ultra HD plus HDR plan; the right choice depends on whether those distinctions matter at home. Other providers’ tiers have their own terms, so verify their current plan details rather than assuming features match.
Rank #3

- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
Check overlap and bundles before cutting or upgrading
List any duplicate access to a service through a bundle, mobile carrier, retailer, or other package. Compare the full bundle price with the stand-alone plans you would otherwise buy, but count savings only for components your household actually wants. A lower combined price does not make an unused service good value.
As a dated US example, Disney’s page published September 23, 2026 listed Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select Bundle Basic at $21.99 per month and Premium at $32.99 per month for new subscriptions starting August 20, 2026. The page notes third-party billing prices can vary and some existing subscribers may retain a plan unless they cancel or change it. Treat this as a dated offer, not a universal account price; check the Disney bundle page and the offer available to your account.

Amazon describes another kind of hub: its article, updated September 17, 2026, says US customers with or without Prime can access more than 100 paid streaming subscriptions and more than 900 FAST channels through its offering. Paid channel subscriptions are add-ons, not automatically included with Prime; Amazon directs customers to its subscriptions page for current prices. A shared discovery or billing hub may be convenient, but it does not by itself make an add-on worthwhile. See Amazon’s overview of Prime Video subscriptions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDecide what to keep, downgrade, cancel, or revisit
- Rank services by near-term use per dollar. Put subscriptions with named, expected viewing first; consider how many household members will use them and whether the plan’s features matter.
- Keep the strongest matches within your budget. If the total is too high, compare whether a lower tier meets your needs before dropping a service outright.
- Change or cancel the rest using the correct billing route. Find out who bills the account first and confirm when a change or cancellation takes effect. Netflix says plans bill monthly and can be changed or canceled at any time. Hulu’s subscriber agreement describes recurring billing, and its cancellation instructions depend on who bills the account.
- Set a review reminder near the next billing date. Reassess when a desired show ends, a new season arrives, a price changes, or household needs shift.
For Hulu, follow the applicable steps on Hulu’s subscription management page; subscriptions billed by a third party may require cancellation through that billing partner. Hulu’s subscriber agreement says subscriptions enroll in an ongoing recurring payment plan, and that bundles are available only in the United States. Confirm the terms for your own account before acting.

Use national viewing figures as context, not a keep list
Nielsen reported that streaming accounted for 44.8% of US television viewing in May 2025; broadcast represented 20.1% and cable 24.1%. Nielsen described that month as the first time streaming exceeded broadcast and cable combined. Those figures describe national viewing share, not the share of households subscribed, the value of paid services, or what one household should keep. See Nielsen’s June 17, 2025 announcement.
