Identify what the sortie asks you to do before choosing an aircraft. The official game overview and walkthrough recommend considering the objective, briefing intelligence, and your playstyle.

- Hostile aircraft: Prioritize an aircraft and available weapon options that suit air-to-air engagements.
- Ground forces or installations: Look for air-to-ground capabilities relevant to the listed targets.
- Naval threats: Check the aircraft’s available options for engaging seaborne targets.
- Mixed target groups: Consider an aircraft that can cover more than one role, while weighing what a specialized aircraft might do better.
Match the aircraft to the target mix
Compare the aircraft’s role and capabilities against the briefing rather than choosing by name or assuming one jet is always strongest. Relevant factors include air-to-air and air-to-ground capability, versatility, and maneuverability. For instance, Bandai Namco describes the Rafale M as a multirole carrier aircraft for air superiority, interdiction, reconnaissance, and air support. Its stated capabilities include long-range air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions as well as close combat. That makes it an example of role fit—not a universal ranking or proof that it is the best choice for a particular mission. See the official aircraft roster for published descriptions, then confirm the options actually available in your game.

Choose the special weapon for the key threat
Once you have a suitable aircraft, treat its special weapon as the mission-specific decision. Use the briefing to identify the threat or target group that matters most, then select from the special weapons available for that aircraft. A weapon that suits the main objective may be more useful than one chosen simply because it worked in a previous sortie.

General publisher guidance does not establish exact weapon compatibility, damage values, or slot counts. Use the current in-game loadout screen for those details instead of assuming that every aircraft carries the same options.
Tune the aircraft with upgrade parts
Use upgrade parts to tailor the selected fighter to the challenge you expect and the way you prefer to fly. Bandai Namco’s walkthrough says parts can be freely combined to build a fighter for each mission. Review your setup when the target mix changes; a configuration suited to one objective does not automatically suit the next.

The available official material does not provide verified effects for every part or a best-in-slot combination. Check the descriptions and values shown in your current game, and make choices based on the demands of the sortie rather than an unsupported universal build.

Difficulty and control preference affect which setup is comfortable to use. Bandai Namco Europe’s difficulty and controls guide, dated September 18, 2026, says Veteran difficulty can make missiles harder to shake and damage recovery more dependent on loadout. It also describes Standard and Expert controls as different control approaches, with Expert allowing a wider range of maneuvers.

If the aircraft you want is not unlocked, continue with a suitable option you already have. The official walkthrough says additional aircraft unlock with MRP earned in missions; the reviewed publisher information does not give verified unlock prices or an optimal unlock order.
A practical loadout checklist
- Read the objective and briefing. Sort the main threats into aircraft, ground targets, naval targets, or a mixture.
- Choose an aircraft for that role. Compare its stated capabilities and maneuverability with the demands of the sortie.
- Select an available special weapon. Favor an option suited to the key threat, using the briefing and current in-game availability.
- Apply upgrade parts. Tune the aircraft for the mission and your preferred playstyle, using the in-game descriptions.
- Account for difficulty and controls. Consider how you handle incoming missiles, damage, and maneuvering.
- Recheck before the next mission. Change the setup when the objective, aircraft availability, or challenge changes.
What official guidance does—and does not—establish
Bandai Namco’s published material supports choosing by mission, aircraft role, special-weapon options, and upgrade parts. It does not establish exact mission-by-mission builds, a complete numerical comparison of aircraft, full weapon statistics, all aircraft-and-weapon compatibility, or tested performance rankings. For exact availability and values, rely on the loadout information in your current game; publisher aircraft descriptions and walkthroughs provide useful role context, not a substitute for those details.
