Samsung’s launch announcement names apps for distinct jobs. Treat these as options to evaluate, not as a ranking: the cited material does not compare their quality in real-world professional work.

Compare apps against your actual workflow
Before choosing, write down what the app must do and what happens to its output next. For note apps, compare handwriting and S Pen behavior, notebook organization, study tools, export formats, file handoff, local availability, and the recurring cost after any offer ends. For creative work, distinguish raster image editing from illustration and video editing; then check the file formats and features required by your existing process.

- Test a representative task: use a real note, image, project, or sketch rather than judging by an app description alone.
- Check handoff: verify that the app can export in the formats colleagues, clients, printers, or desktop tools require.
- Price the continuing workflow: read the redemption screen and continuation terms in your region instead of treating a trial or promotion as ongoing inclusion.
- Confirm app availability: check the local Galaxy Store or other official app listing at the time you intend to install.
The Samsung sources establish announced app roles and promotions, not independent comparative test results. They do not support declaring one of these apps the best for every professional.
Check model availability and offer terms by region
Samsung announced Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ on September 30, 2026. The global announcement says availability starts October 7 in select markets; Samsung’s U.S. product FAQ also gives October 7, 2026. That does not establish availability in every country on that date. The global announcement says Photoshop for Tablet is scheduled to be exclusive to Galaxy Store for at least six months starting October 7, after which Adobe may distribute it elsewhere.

Offer packages differ by source and geography. Samsung’s U.S. page describes four months of Photoshop, six months of Notability Plus, six months of Clip Studio Paint EX, one month of Notion Business, and one year of Goodnotes Essential. Those U.S. terms should not be applied to other markets, nor assumed to match the global announcement’s offer descriptions. Check the offer and subscription details shown for your country and account before redeeming.
Plan for the S Pen, keyboard, and DeX
Samsung says both Tab S12 models include an S Pen. A charger is not included, according to the U.S. FAQ. The compatible keyboard and cover accessories are separate purchases; Samsung names the Pro Keyboard, Book Cover Keyboard Slim, Book Cover, and—only for the Ultra—Frame Cover. Samsung says the Pro Keyboard has an aluminum body, 1.0 mm key travel, a trackpad, and a Galaxy AI Key. Confirm the exact accessory variant is compatible with your model before buying.

Samsung markets DeX as a PC-like workspace for arranging multiple apps. A keyboard and trackpad can make typing and window-based multitasking more practical, but a desktop-like interface does not guarantee that every desktop workflow will run on Android. In its U.S. FAQ, Samsung says specialized software may still require a laptop. If your work depends on a specific desktop application, verify that requirement before replacing a computer.

Clip Studio’s official Galaxy compatibility list consulted for this article does not list Tab S12. That is not proof the app will never support the model, but it means the cited list does not confirm it. Recheck the current list after the device becomes available and test your exact app version and workflow before relying on it for paid work.

Clip Studio’s support article also documents a past One UI 8 issue involving showing a canvas on an external monitor, alongside DeX setup information for Galaxy tablets. That example is a reason to test the exact app, device, software version, and monitor setup—not evidence that every app has a DeX problem or that the same issue applies to Tab S12 today.
