Choose between the SteelSeries Sensei Pro and Rival Pro by starting with shape: Sensei Pro is symmetrical, while Rival Pro is ergonomic. Then match the size to your hand and grip, and check the battery runtime at your preferred polling rate. One naming note: SteelSeries’ product page calls the first mouse Sensei Pro, not “Sensei Pro X”; confirm that “X” refers to this model before buying.
First, confirm which Sensei model you mean
The official SteelSeries product listing identifies the mouse as Sensei Pro, alongside Rival Pro. It does not establish a separate model named “Sensei Pro X.” This guide compares Sensei Pro with Rival Pro; check the exact model name and SKU on the listing for your region before ordering.

Choose the shell shape that suits your hand
| Mouse | Shape | Best starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Sensei Pro | Symmetrical | Consider it if you prefer a balanced, non-ergonomic shell. |
| Rival Pro | Ergonomic | Consider it if you prefer a contoured shell. PC Gamer’s September 29, 2026 review describes its feel favorably for palm grip; that is one reviewer’s assessment, not a universal fit result. PC Gamer review |
SteelSeries recommends the full-size models for palm and relaxed claw grips, and the Mini models for fingertip and aggressive claw grips. These are manufacturer suggestions, not guarantees: hand proportions and personal preference can change what feels comfortable. SteelSeries product page

Pick full-size or Mini using the listed dimensions
| Variant | Dimensions (L × W × H) | Listed weight | Manufacturer’s grip guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-size | 125.6 × 66.5 × 38.6 mm | Black: 53 g; white: 54 g | Palm or relaxed claw |
| Mini | 118 × 62.5 × 36.2 mm | Black: 49 g; white: 50 g | Fingertip or aggressive claw |
Dimensions and weights are SteelSeries’ listed specifications, accessed in 2026; weight varies by color, so verify the selected SKU. SteelSeries product page The Mini is shorter, narrower, and lower than the full-size version, but those measurements alone cannot determine fit. If possible, compare the shell in person or check the retailer’s return policy.

Factor polling rate into battery expectations
Both mice use two hot-swappable batteries: SteelSeries says one can charge while the other is in use. The manufacturer lists these total runtimes across the two batteries:
| Polling rate | Listed total runtime | Per-battery figure |
|---|---|---|
| 1K | Up to 120 hours | 60 hours |
| 8K | Up to 32 hours | 16 hours |
These are SteelSeries’ figures, not independent measurements, and runtime depends on polling configuration. PC Gamer also lists 60 hours per battery and up to 8K polling for Rival Pro; those are review-reported specifications, not results from a controlled comparison. Check compatibility and software needs
SteelSeries lists PC compatibility with Windows 10 and above, PlayStation with a warning that not all features may be supported, and Xbox Series S|X. Check the current regional listing for the exact mouse and platform, especially if you need software-dependent settings or features on a console. SteelSeries describes Smart DPI, adjustment options, sensitivity conversion, and GG setup; those feature descriptions do not show that either mouse will improve aim for a particular player. A quick decision guide
- Lean toward Sensei Pro if you want the symmetrical shape and the full-size or Mini version fits your hand and grip.
- Lean toward Rival Pro if you prefer an ergonomic shell; treat positive palm-grip impressions as individual reviewer opinion rather than a promise of fit.
- Compare the variants, not just the model names: both are listed in full-size and Mini forms, with distinct dimensions and weights.
- Choose your polling rate deliberately if battery life matters; SteelSeries lists substantially different runtimes at 1K and 8K.
- Before purchase, confirm the exact model name, regional SKU, platform support, current price, and stock on the seller’s listing.
What the available evidence does not establish
SteelSeries’ product information describes specifications and features, while PC Gamer’s review offers a perspective on Rival Pro. Neither establishes that one mouse is objectively better for accuracy, speed, or every hand. There is no controlled head-to-head test in the sources cited here, so base the choice on shape, size, grip, platform needs, and the listed battery trade-off—not an assumed performance winner.
