Elden Ring or Baldur’s Gate 3?
These are the clearest alternatives if you want a dark fantasy world but differ on what you do moment to moment. Choose Baldur’s Gate 3 if you want to manage a party, approach situations through role-play and character choices, and engage with a tabletop-inspired framework. Choose Elden Ring if you would rather travel through a dangerous world, discover dungeons, and improve by learning enemy patterns in action combat.
The practical distinction is not simply turn-based versus action. It is whether you want decisions and party roles to shape encounters, or exploration and execution to drive them. Both may suit players drawn to difficult situations, but they ask for different kinds of attention.

Which dark fantasy RPG has more build flexibility?
“Build flexibility” can mean several things, so there is no useful single winner across these games:
- For role-play and party composition: Baldur’s Gate 3 is the starting point. Larian highlights its D&D setting and character options; that points to flexibility in how you define a character and assemble a party.
- For action combat: Elden Ring is the fit if you want your character setup to support exploration and demanding fights. The cited sources emphasize action, dungeons, and bosses rather than a comparative count of build options.
- For progression and customization: Diablo IV’s feature overview explicitly focuses on character progression and customization. It is the most direct match here for a progression-led action loop.
- For theorycrafting: Path of Exile 2 is the option identified for intricate build planning, with the important qualification that PC Gamer described it as Early Access on August 31, 2026.

What to know about The Veilguard on PC
EA lists The Veilguard for PC through the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Its PC feature article documents keyboard-and-mouse and controller support, as well as NVIDIA DLSS 3, FSR 2.2 (modified for the game), and XeSS. Check EA’s current PC system-requirements page against your computer before buying; the sources cited here do not provide a complete requirements comparison across all five games.

Baldur’s Gate 3
Larian’s official store lists a PC Deluxe Edition and says a game disc is included. This confirms an official physical PC-game product path, but not current availability at any particular retailer. Check the edition contents and retailer listing before ordering. Larian official store.
Elden Ring
Bandai Namco describes the Tarnished Edition contents as including the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, new armor, and a Torrent appearance customization feature. Its 2026 announcement identifies the edition for Nintendo Switch 2 and the Tarnished Pack for PC via Steam and console platforms.
