Choose Bitwarden if the free plan or predictable listed pricing matters most
Bitwarden stands out for someone who wants to start without a subscription and keep the account available across multiple devices. The official page describes its basic account as always free and includes unlimited devices and passwords. That makes it a useful starting point for an individual who needs a password vault and does not need Dashlane-specific extras.
If you want a paid plan, Bitwarden’s page gives clear annual USD rates before tax: Premium at $1.65 per month and Families at $3.99 per month for up to six people. Treat those as the page’s displayed rates, not a guarantee of the total at checkout in every country.

- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single Security Key C NFC secures 100 of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more.

- TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
Choose Dashlane if you will use its bundled protections
Dashlane’s case is strongest when its extras replace services or alerts you would otherwise seek separately. Premium includes a VPN, dark-web monitoring, secure sharing, and real-time phishing alerts. Both listed personal plans include unlimited devices and passwords/passkeys.
For a household, Friends & Family includes ten accounts, but the VPN is for the plan manager alone. Do not assume that every family member receives every Premium feature; compare the allocation of each feature with how your household will use it.

Check Dashlane’s current price at checkout

Usability depends on your devices and habits
Independent reviews offer useful, but not universal, usability signals. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 roundup praises Bitwarden’s free tier and reports that some features can feel less intuitive, including occasional friction with autofill and password generation. It also reports compatibility with major desktop and mobile systems and browsers. Those are the publication’s findings, not a guarantee of your experience. Tom’s Guide’s password-manager roundup.

TechRadar’s 2026 roundup describes Dashlane setup as straightforward and its interface as intuitive, and highlights its VPN, passkey support, dark-web monitoring, and phishing alerts. Its listed prices should not be relied on as current after Dashlane’s own 2026 price-change notice. These too are reviewer observations, not a promise that autofill will behave identically on every device. TechRadar’s password-manager roundup.
Before moving all your credentials, try each app on the devices and browsers you actually use. Check whether it offers the right login at the right time, handles passkeys for your accounts, and makes sharing understandable for everyone who needs access.

What about business use?
This comparison focuses on personal plans. For a workplace purchase, assess the business editions separately, including the administrative and security controls your organization requires. Dashlane’s comparison page says its claims are based on its own research as of May 2026; treat that as vendor positioning, not an independent evaluation. Dashlane’s comparison page.
