How to Choose an AI Video Generator for Your Team

AI video generators serve different workflows. Compare creative footage, avatar and localization tools, and suite-integrated options using your team’s real deliverable and plan terms.

Choose an AI video generator by the work your team needs it to do—not by a universal “best” ranking. Creative footage, avatar-led training and localization, and video generation inside an existing creative suite are different workflows. Shortlist tools by output type, collaboration, usage economics, controls and rights, then run the same brief through each finalist before committing.

Start with the kind of video your team needs

“AI video generator” can mean a tool that makes creative footage from prompts, an avatar platform for scripted presentations, or a generation feature within a larger editing and design environment. A product may overlap these categories, but its main workflow affects what your team can produce and how it will review, edit and distribute the result.

Team need Potential fit What to examine
Cinematic or illustrative footage for creative work Runway’s Team workspace, or video generation through Adobe Firefly Output consistency and movement, editing handoff, model access, and whether the tool fits your existing production process.
Avatar-led explainers, training or internal communications HeyGen or Synthesia Avatar and voice acceptability, script revision, pronunciation, review controls and localization workflow.
Sales or marketing personalization and translation HeyGen or Synthesia How the team manages variants, translation review, usage limits and approvals.
Generation embedded in a creative suite Adobe Firefly for Teams Included applications and features, generative-credit limits, the specific model used and any partner-model terms.

These are starting points, not quality rankings. The available product descriptions establish different emphases, not which tool will make the best finished video for your team.

Compare the real cost of producing and reviewing videos

A seat price alone does not tell you how much finished work a plan supports. Compare the practical usage pool and the limits that affect your workflow: generation length, concurrent jobs, translation minutes, extra usage charges, storage, seat minimums and whether unused credits carry over. Ask how much usage your team’s actual deliverable consumes, including revisions.

Product and plan Published plan details What the figures do—and do not—tell you
Runway Team Runway lists $69 per seat per month, or $55 per seat per month when billed yearly; 6,900 monthly credits per seat pooled across the workspace; one-month rollover; up to 100 projects; and 1 TB of storage. These are vendor-listed terms for the Team plan. The page does not establish how many finished videos a given team can make: consumption depends on the model and workflow. Check current prices, entitlements and credit rules before purchase.
HeyGen Business HeyGen lists $149 per month plus $20 per additional seat. This is a vendor-listed price. Confirm current seat accounting, included usage, translation limits and any overage terms directly with HeyGen.
Synthesia Enterprise Public price: not stated on Synthesia’s Enterprise page. The cited page describes product capabilities, not an apples-to-apples public price list. Request a quote and compare the proposed seat, usage and support terms.
Adobe Firefly for Teams The cited regional plan page lists monthly generative credits, video-generation access, Adobe applications and features, and business administration and support benefits. Regional prices and plan inclusions differ. Check the page for your region and the exact application, model and credit entitlements in your plan.

Prices and product entitlements change. Treat the figures above as vendor listings, not guaranteed current quotes. Runway’s Team plan is described for two to nine people; its Help Center directs teams needing more than nine seats, SSO, third-party model controls, usage reporting or contracted annual terms to Enterprise.

Check how the team will collaborate and govern access

For a team, the workflow around a video can matter as much as generation: who can create or approve it, where assets are stored, how feedback is attached, and whether access can be controlled centrally. Match the plan’s stated features to your own review and rollout requirements.

  • Runway: Its Team page describes a shared workspace, frame-accurate comments, Brand Kits and integrations. Its Help Center identifies SSO, more than nine seats, third-party model controls, usage reporting and contracted annual terms as Enterprise reasons. Confirm the precise plan available to your team.
  • HeyGen: Its Business page describes workspace collaboration, centralized billing, organization avatars, SSO, roles and administration tools. These are vendor-stated capabilities; verify what is included in your proposed plan and contract.
  • Synthesia: Its Enterprise page describes versioning, audit logs, brand guardrails, interactive learning experiences and governance. These are stated Enterprise capabilities, not an independent assessment of how well they work for a particular organization.
  • Adobe Firefly: Its regional Teams page describes business administration and support benefits alongside credits and creative-suite access. Check the region-specific plan details and whether your existing Adobe workflow makes those integrations useful.

Before rollout, ask the vendor to confirm seat limits, SSO, roles, sharing restrictions, storage, support, model access and procurement terms for the exact plan—not just the product family.

Test localization with your actual material

Translation availability is not the same as a video that is ready to publish in another language. The result depends on the script, voice, pronunciation, captions, avatar and review process your team needs.

HeyGen states that its Business offering supports translation into more than 175 languages and dialects. Synthesia describes video translation. These are vendor statements, not independent measurements of translation quality. Pilot the language and workflow you actually expect to use, including a script revision, and have an appropriate reviewer check the result before relying on it.

Review data use, model terms and rights

Do not assume one vendor-wide policy applies to every model or plan. Confirm which model will handle your work, what inputs it receives, how content is used, what rights apply to outputs, and whether any indemnity is available under your particular contract.

  • Adobe Firefly models: Adobe says its Firefly models use licensed and public-domain training content, that customer content is not used to train models, and that qualifying fully generated assets receive Content Credentials. Adobe says Firefly-model outputs are available for commercial use; assess partner-model outputs separately.
  • Adobe partner models: Adobe’s separate policy for Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise says required prompts or inputs may be shared with a partner and content is not used for training. In that named Enterprise experience, Adobe states, “Your content is not used to train Adobe models or partner generative AI models.” Do not apply this statement to every Adobe plan or partner-model workflow.
  • Indemnification: Adobe says IP indemnification requires an eligible entitlement and is subject to terms, conditions and exclusions. Confirm eligibility and scope in the applicable agreement rather than assuming generated content is automatically covered.
  • Every finalist: Review commercial-use terms, rights in uploaded assets, partner-model conditions, output provenance and any limitations in the proposed plan and contract. Have security or procurement review those terms before uploading sensitive material.

Run a fair pilot before you choose

A short, controlled pilot gives the team more useful evidence than feature lists alone. Use the same brief and approved assets for each finalist, and assess the work from creation through approval and export.

  1. Define the deliverable. Specify the audience, channel, length, aspect ratio, visual style, brand requirements and who must approve the result.
  2. Use an identical brief and assets. Give each finalist the same approved source material so differences reflect the workflow rather than the assignment.
  3. Include a revision. Change part of the script or creative direction after the first result. For avatar tools, also produce one target-language version with captions and the review process you intend to use.
  4. Score the whole workflow. Record usable result quality, consistency, movement, pronunciation and lip-sync where relevant, editability, time to final, collaboration, brand consistency, usage consumed, and any export or legal-review burden.
  5. Check the proposed plan against the pilot. Ask the vendor to confirm the relevant credit pool, rollover, storage, concurrency, seat rules, model access and extra-usage charges for the volume you observed.
  6. Complete security and rights review. Confirm data handling, input and output rights, and contract terms before using sensitive or production material.

The pilot is a team evaluation method, not a published comparison test. Its purpose is to reveal which tool fits your deliverable and review process at the usage level you actually expect.

Make the decision by workflow, not feature count

  • Shortlist Runway or Firefly when your priority is generated creative footage; decide between them by production fit, actual output and the terms for the models you will use.
  • Shortlist HeyGen or Synthesia when your work centers on avatars, training, communications or localization; compare script and language results, governance and the specific usage terms you receive.
  • Favor an integrated suite when its workflow and administration solve a real production need, not simply because it is already familiar.
  • Do not treat listed feature counts, language counts or plan prices as proof of output quality or total cost. Verify the plan and test the deliverable.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
