Choose a wireless PC controller by checking three things in order: how it connects to your PC, whether your games and launcher support it, and which features work over that connection. Bluetooth, a dedicated USB receiver, and a USB cable are not interchangeable guarantees of compatibility; support depends on the controller, operating system, game, and sometimes the feature you want to use.
Start with the connection your PC and controller support
Wireless PC controllers commonly connect through Bluetooth or a dedicated USB wireless receiver. Some can also connect by USB cable. Check the exact model’s official specifications: a controller may support only one wireless method, and a receiver or cable may be sold separately.

Bluetooth
Bluetooth can connect a compatible controller directly to a PC without a separate controller receiver, provided the PC has Bluetooth. Microsoft documents Bluetooth pairing for Windows, and Sony documents DualSense Bluetooth support on supported PC operating systems. Pairing is only the connection step; it does not ensure that every game recognizes the controller or that every feature works. See Microsoft’s Bluetooth connection guidance and Sony’s DualSense PC connection guide.
Dedicated USB receiver
Some controllers use a dedicated receiver plugged into a USB port instead of the PC’s Bluetooth radio. An adapter may also let certain Bluetooth controllers connect through a supported accessory. Do not assume that receiver-based wireless is faster or more reliable than Bluetooth: the sources cited here do not establish a general performance advantage. Confirm that the receiver or adapter supports your exact controller and PC operating system.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
USB cable
A USB connection is a practical wired fallback and may be necessary for a specific feature. For example, Sony says DualSense haptic feedback on PC requires a USB connection as well as a game that supports the feature. A wireless-capable controller can therefore still have a reason to use a cable.
Check compatibility at both the operating-system and game level
A controller appearing as connected in Windows does not guarantee that a particular game will accept it or expose its full feature set. Check compatibility at each layer:

- Platform Compatibility: This PC controller is designed for Windows PC, Steam, Switch, Android, and iOS. Xbox-style asymmetric stick layout for PC gamers. Three modes cover all your devices. Please check your device compatibility before purchase
- Three Connection Modes: 2.4G wireless, Bluetooth, wired USB-C. PC gets native XInput/DirectInput. Switch pairs via Bluetooth, no adapter. This gaming PC controller switches devices seamlessly. Stable wireless minimizes random disconnects during gaming
- Hall Effect Precision: Hall effect joysticks and triggers eliminate stick drift. This gaming controller for PC delivers smooth, responsive input with no dead zones. Built for FPS, racing, and action games. Long-term precision for competitive PC gaming
- Back Buttons & Battery: Two programmable back buttons map combos and shortcuts. Textured grips with dual vibration. 1000mAh battery delivers up to 20H playtime. RGB can be turned off. A solid PC controller for gaming with custom back buttons
- ABXY Layout Switch: Press B + Minus + Plus to swap between PC and Switch modes. Features: 1000Hz polling rate, RGB lighting, turbo. Note: designed without mic jack or gyro sensor
- Controller and operating system: Look up official PC support for the exact controller generation and the connection mode you plan to use.
- PC hardware and accessories: Confirm that the computer has Bluetooth if you plan to pair directly. For receiver-based play, check whether the receiver is included or must be purchased separately.
- Launcher: Check how your launcher supports and configures the controller. Valve documents multiple controller families in Steam Input, which can affect setup and button mapping within Steam. See Valve’s Steam Input documentation.
- Game: Check the game’s own controller support, especially if you will launch it outside Steam. Support through a launcher does not guarantee identical behavior in a non-Steam game.
- Features: Verify the connection requirements for features you care about. For DualSense haptics on PC, Sony identifies both USB and support in the game as conditions.
Windows names Xbox Wireless Controller, PlayStation DualSense, and Nintendo Switch Pro among examples of game input devices. That is useful context, not a promise that every model, game, or feature will work identically. See Microsoft’s Windows game-controller guidance.

Use this decision path
- If your PC has Bluetooth: Check that the controller officially supports Bluetooth pairing with your PC’s operating system, then confirm that your games recognize it.
- If the controller uses a receiver: Confirm that the correct receiver is included or available, and that its documented support covers your controller and operating system.
- If you need a specific feature: Check the manufacturer’s requirements for that feature and whether your game supports it; use USB if the feature requires a cable.
- If you already own a controller and are considering an adapter: Match the adapter’s current compatibility list to your controller family and operating system before buying.
