Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To connect a Samsung printer to Wi-Fi, first confirm that your exact model supports wireless networking, then use one of the setup methods its manual provides: WPS, a wireless setup wizard, or computer-assisted setup over USB. If you want a phone to connect directly to the printer rather than through your home router, use Wi-Fi Direct instead; it is a separate connection method.
Before you start, check the printer model
Samsung printers do not all have wireless capability, identical control panels, or the same setup options. Find the model number on the printer’s label or in its documentation, then check that model’s manual or support information to confirm it supports Wi-Fi. Samsung Printer Diagnostics guidance also describes checking the printer’s wireless capability: Samsung Printer Diagnostics guidance.

Have the name of your wireless network and its password ready. Use the instructions for the exact model rather than assuming that button names, menu paths, or connection steps match another Samsung printer.
Choose the connection method that fits your setup
| Method | Best suited to | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|
| WPS | Connecting the printer to a router or access point without entering the network password at the printer | Both the printer and router must support WPS; the sequence is model-specific. |
| Wireless setup wizard or USB-assisted setup | Guided configuration, often from a computer | The model’s manual or software must offer the method; some setups use a USB cable temporarily. |
| Wi-Fi Direct | Connecting a supported mobile device directly to the printer | The printer must support Wi-Fi Direct. This does not connect the printer to the home router’s network. |
Connect through WPS when both devices support it
WPS can be a quick way to join the printer to the router, but it is available only when both devices support it. A Samsung manual documents a WPS-button setup route for supported models; do not assume the button location, menu label, or sequence is the same across printers. Follow the WPS instructions in your printer’s manual and the router’s instructions. HP support guidance on checking Samsung wireless capability and an official Samsung printer manual describe model-dependent setup routes.

Use the wireless wizard or USB-assisted setup
If your model offers a wireless setup wizard, follow the steps in its manual or bundled setup software. The official HP-hosted manual for Samsung M262x/M282x models describes a wizard and USB-assisted wireless setup. It says: “Wizard (recommended): In this mode, the setup is automatic.” That description applies to the manual’s documented setup, not necessarily to other Samsung models. Samsung M262x/M282x manual.
Some computer-assisted setups use a USB cable while you configure the printer’s wireless connection. Connect a cable only if the instructions for your model call for it; USB-assisted setup is not a universal requirement. An HP support result also describes USB-assisted Samsung wireless setup on Windows. HP support guidance for Samsung wireless setup.

Use Wi-Fi Direct for a direct mobile connection
Wi-Fi Direct creates a peer-to-peer connection between a supported printer and mobile device. It is useful when your goal is to connect directly to the printer, but it does not mean the printer has joined your household router’s Wi-Fi network. If you want the printer available on the home network, configure it to join the router instead. Check your model’s manual for Wi-Fi Direct support and setup instructions. If the printer will not connect
- Recheck wireless support: Confirm the exact model includes Wi-Fi; a printer without wireless capability cannot join the router wirelessly.
- Confirm the selected network and password: Make sure you are configuring the intended router network and entering its current password as instructed by the printer’s setup method.
- Check WPS support at both ends: If either the printer or router does not support WPS, choose a different method available for your model.
- Verify the supported Wi-Fi band: Check the printer’s manual before changing router settings. HP’s general setup guidance says to use 2.4 GHz if the particular printer model requires it; that is not a requirement established for every Samsung printer. HP wireless setup guidance.
- Use the model’s documented route: A wizard, WPS, and USB-assisted setup are not interchangeable features on every printer. Follow the exact manual if a menu, button, or step differs.
- Confirm which connection you configured: Wi-Fi Direct connects a device directly to the printer; it does not substitute for joining the router network.
