Windows 11 on Arm runs many apps natively or through emulation, but compatibility for driver-dependent software and hardware is not automatic. After that, compare memory, storage, screen, ports, form factor and battery evidence for the exact model you plan to buy.
Start with the work you need the laptop to do
Snapdragon X2 Plus is an Arm-based Windows laptop platform. For everyday browser, document and communication work, first confirm that your required apps run acceptably, then compare the laptop’s memory, keyboard, webcam, screen and portability. For specialist workloads, app compatibility and real-world performance matter more than the processor’s headline specifications.

Check essential apps and peripherals
Microsoft says most Windows apps can be installed and run on Windows 11 Arm PCs, and that apps built natively for Arm provide the best performance. Windows 11 version 24H2 includes Prism emulation for apps that were not built for Arm. Microsoft’s general guidance names native Microsoft 365 apps and examples such as Chrome, Slack, Spotify, Zoom, Blender, Affinity Suite and DaVinci Resolve; that list does not confirm compatibility for every version, plugin or workflow. Pay particular attention to security tools, virtualization software, game anti-cheat, assistive technology and utilities that install low-level components. For printers, scanners, docks, audio interfaces and other peripherals, Microsoft says drivers must be designed for Windows 11 Arm; a device needs either driver support built into Windows or an Arm64 driver from its manufacturer. Microsoft’s Surface ARM device guidance also recommends checking with publishers when compatibility is unclear.

Be stricter with creator and AI workflows
Qualcomm positions X2 Plus for productivity and aspiring creators, including photo and video editing and multimodal content generation. Those are platform use cases, not a guarantee that a particular application, plugin or acceleration path will work. For content creation or local AI, verify support for the exact Windows Arm device and the software’s intended hardware acceleration, then look for testing of the specific laptop and workload. The platform’s advertised NPU figure alone cannot predict your results.
Choose between the 10-core and 6-core X2 Plus
Qualcomm’s 2026 product brief lists two chips. Both have six prime cores, a maximum multi-thread frequency of 4.0 GHz, an 80 TOPS NPU and listed LPDDR5x support at 9523 MT/s. The 10-core version adds four performance cores and has more cache. The figures below describe the platform; the laptop maker’s cooling and power design influence how a device behaves under sustained work.

Qualcomm’s X2 Plus product brief also lists support for DirectX 12.2 Ultimate, Vulkan 1.4 and OpenCL 3.0. API support does not establish that a particular game, driver or creative app will run well.

The 10-core model has the stronger listed CPU and GPU configurations, but the core count does not translate into a guaranteed speedup for a particular task. Choose based on tests of the exact laptop and software you use, not on the processor name alone. The identical listed NPU TOPS figure also does not mean every AI application uses the NPU or performs equally on both laptops.

Compare the whole laptop, not just its chip
Platform specifications do not determine the memory and storage a manufacturer installs, the screen or keyboard quality, or how portable the finished laptop is. Compare the exact sale configuration against the needs of your workload.

Use current laptop examples as comparison points
These models show the kinds of X2 Plus designs being announced or listed, but they are starting points for comparison rather than a universal ranking. Processor, memory, storage and connectivity can vary by configuration and market, so confirm the exact SKU.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5x
Qualcomm’s live device finder lists the IdeaPad Slim 5x with Snapdragon X2 Plus. Check the country-specific model and its processor tier, memory, storage and connectivity in the listing for sale. Qualcomm’s laptop finder is a place to begin that check.

Acer Swift Spin 14 AI
Acer’s May 28, 2026 announcement says the Swift Spin 14 AI can be configured with X2 Elite or X2 Plus. Acer describes a 14-inch WUXGA touchscreen convertible with an included stylus, up to 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and up to a 1 TB SSD. It also lists support for three external 4K monitors and USB-C, USB-A and HDMI 2.1. These are announced features or maximum configurations, not a promise that every SKU includes them. Acer claims up to 23 hours of video playback and 16.5 hours of web browsing for the Swift Spin 14 AI under its stated scenarios; those figures are not a general X2 Plus laptop guarantee. Check Acer’s announcement and the local product listing for the configuration you are considering.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 13-inch and Surface Pro 12-inch
Microsoft announced Snapdragon X2 Plus versions of both devices on September 23, 2026. The Surface Pro is positioned as a tablet-to-laptop device for pen-first use; the Surface Laptop is a thin touchscreen laptop with a full-size keyboard. Confirm regional availability, configuration and current sale status in Microsoft’s announcement.

Microsoft reports several comparisons for its announced Surface devices, but they are specific to its products, tests and comparison systems. They are not cross-brand benchmarks and do not predict performance in every workload.
- Microsoft says the Surface Pro 12-inch (2nd Edition) is up to 17% faster in Procyon Office Productivity workloads than the Surface Pro 12-inch (1st Edition) with Snapdragon X Plus.
- Microsoft says the new Surface Laptop 13-inch has up to 18% more efficient battery performance than the prior Surface Laptop 13-inch with Snapdragon X Plus, based on Procyon Office Productivity and power testing.
- Microsoft reports more than 60% faster graphics performance in comparisons with specified prior Surface devices, based on Procyon AI testing, and up to 95% faster local AI inference on the NPU against preceding Surface generations.
Microsoft says results vary by configuration, workload, settings and other factors. The figures and their test qualifications appear in its Surface announcement. Qualcomm likewise says battery life varies significantly by device, settings and usage. The available vendor claims do not establish independent comparative results for the named X2 Plus retail laptops across workloads.
