Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Choose a robotic-arm vendor by validating the complete production cell—not by ranking brands or comparing headline payloads alone. Define the task, load, reach, cycle and safety needs first; then compare shortlisted models, local support and total installed cost against the same requirements.
What should you decide before comparing vendors?
Start with the production operation and the part it must handle. A robot suited to machine tending may not be the right choice for welding, assembly, packaging or palletizing. Define the task in enough detail that each vendor or integrator is quoting against the same job rather than making assumptions.

- Describe the process. Identify the workpiece, operation, stations, expected production pattern and any process-quality requirement. KUKA’s official industrial robot finder is one example of a tool that lets buyers filter model ranges by application.
- Calculate the complete moving load. Include the workpiece, gripper or other end effector, brackets, cabling and any load offset. Check the model’s payload data for the actual configuration; a headline payload does not establish that the arm can handle the load at the required reach and orientation.
- Map the working envelope. Document reach, approach angles, mounting position, obstacles and station locations. Establish whether one arm can serve all required stations and whether its footprint fits the proposed cell. KUKA’s finder includes reach and mounting-position filters.
- Set performance targets. Specify the required cycle time, repeatability, speed and process quality. Ask for model-specific documentation and validation against the intended trajectory and layout: published maximum speed or repeatability figures do not guarantee a cycle time in your cell.
- Check the operating environment and interfaces. Confirm protection class and any cleanroom, washdown or process requirements. Check controller and plant communications, tooling connections, I/O, programming expectations and simulation needs before choosing a model.
- Define the safety approach. Identify hazards and operating conditions for the whole cell, including tooling, workpieces, people, access and operating modes. A collaborative robot’s capabilities are one design input, not a substitute for evaluating the cell.
- Set support and cost requirements. Decide what must be included: robot and controller, tooling, guarding or other safety equipment, integration, commissioning, training, spare parts and ongoing service.
- Validate the proposed application. Before making a final selection, ask the vendor or integrator to demonstrate the representative payload, tooling, trajectory, cycle and interfaces.
How do you compare shortlisted robot arms?
Compare candidates on evidence tied to your task. Use the same part, tooling assumptions, station layout and production targets in every request so that differences in proposals are meaningful.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11| Comparison area | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Payload and load | Capacity for the complete moving load at the required reach, orientation and load offset, with the chosen end effector and attachments. |
| Reach and installation | Working envelope, approach angles, mounting options, obstacles and footprint in the proposed cell. |
| Performance | Cycle-time feasibility, repeatability and process-quality evidence for the intended trajectory and operation. |
| Environment | Ingress protection and suitability for any cleanroom, washdown or process conditions the application requires. |
| Controls and integration | Controller, plant-interface, tooling, I/O, programming and simulation fit. |
| Safety | How the proposed safeguards address hazards in the complete cell and what evidence supports the design. |
| Service | Local integrator experience, OEM response, spare-parts access, training and service coverage. |
| Cost | Comparable quotations for the robot and the complete installed cell, plus the support and lifecycle items relevant to your operation. |
Do not name a winner from brand reputation, one model specification or the fact that a robot is collaborative. The available vendor materials are useful for published specifications and selection tools, but they are not independent comparative performance tests.

What do published model specifications tell you?
Universal Robots lists the UR20-1750 with a 20 kg standard payload, a 25 kg extended payload, 1,750 mm reach and a maximum TCP speed of 5 m/s. Its product page also describes the tool connector and provides a route to request pricing. These are model-level figures from the manufacturer, not proof that the UR20-1750 can meet a particular cell’s load, cycle, safety or integration requirements.
Use model finders and product pages to build a shortlist, then request the detailed application information needed to test it. KUKA’s official finder, for example, filters by application, payload, reach, mounting position, construction type, protection class and collaborative-robot status, and links to robot peripherals and customer service. Those are useful categories to request from any shortlisted OEM.

How should safety affect the vendor decision?
Assess safeguards for the complete workcell under its real operating conditions. The International Federation of Robotics lists ISO 10218-1, ISO 10218-2 and ISO/TS 15066 among robotics safety standards. That list does not establish the full requirements, current editions or regulations applicable to a specific factory or jurisdiction. Confirm the applicable standards and rules with the responsible safety professional and regulator; do not assume that choosing a cobot removes the need for risk assessment or protective measures.

The robot OEM is one part of the purchasing decision. A regional system integrator may size, design, install, commission and support the complete cell. Check its experience with the application, availability in your location and ability to provide ongoing service. Ask the OEM and integrator to identify responsibility for the robot, controller, tooling, safety equipment, commissioning, training, spares and support so gaps do not appear after purchase.

The International Federation of Robotics reported that 542,000 industrial robots were installed worldwide in 2024, and that Asia accounted for 74% of new industrial-robot deployments that year. The IFR released those figures in 2025 and described 2024 as the second-highest annual installation count on record, 2% below the all-time high two years earlier. These figures describe the global market and deployment geography; they do not identify the best supplier for an individual factory.
