Choose a case explicitly made for Apple’s iPhone Duo and verify that it lets the phone complete its full, natural opening and closing motion. Check the manufacturer’s fit guidance, how the case attaches to both halves, and whether it works with any screen film you plan to use. Apple says iPhone Duo availability begins October 23, 2026, so case listings and guidance may change after launch.
Start with exact iPhone Duo compatibility
Do not assume that a case for a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, another foldable, or a different iPhone will fit. Foldables need case parts that align with both halves and accommodate the particular hinge geometry. Look for the exact model name, iPhone Duo, in the manufacturer’s compatibility statement—not merely “foldable phone” or a similar-looking device.

Apple identifies iPhone Duo as its first foldable iPhone and lists a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. Apple also describes a precision hinge designed to support the display flat when open. Those specifications make model-specific fit and unobstructed movement central to choosing a case; they do not establish that a particular case will fit or protect the hinge. Foldable cases generally take different approaches around the hinge. A hinge-cover design adds material or a moving cover over that area; a hinge-free design leaves it unobstructed. Neither approach is established as safer for iPhone Duo: no independent comparative protection test or verified iPhone Duo case was available in the cited sources.

- Full hinge movement: Does the maker explicitly say the case is designed to accommodate the phone’s complete opening and closing motion? If the description is vague, ask the manufacturer rather than inferring from pictures.
- Secure fit on both halves: Find out how each section is retained and whether the hinge cover, if present, moves freely rather than pulling a case half loose.
- Screen-film fit: Check whether the case is compatible with a protector or film on the outer screen. Thickness and edge coverage can affect how the case seats.
- Added bulk and handling: Compare the extra material around the hinge and edges with the protection the manufacturer actually claims. Do not treat a protection claim as an independently verified result.
- Magnets and charging: If you use magnetic accessories or wireless charging, check the case maker’s compatibility details for those functions. Do not assume that a magnetic case works with every accessory.
Samsung warns that a thick third-party cover-screen film may keep a Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, or Z Flip7 FE case from fitting properly. That is Samsung guidance for those models, not Apple-specific advice, but it illustrates why film and case compatibility should be checked together. - Read the instructions supplied for the exact case and device model before attaching it.
- Inspect the case and phone contact points for debris that could interfere with seating.
- Fit each part gradually as the manufacturer directs. Do not force a cover or press hard near the hinge to make a misaligned part fit.
- Open and close the phone through its intended motion. Stop if a case part catches, shifts, presses against the hinge, or makes movement feel restricted; remove it and contact the case maker if needed.
Samsung’s guidance for its Fold7 and Flip7 models says to press the cover into place gradually toward the hinge, but those instructions are not Apple’s installation steps. Follow the instructions supplied with an iPhone Duo case rather than transferring another phone’s procedure.

What you can verify before buying
As of Apple’s announced October 23, 2026 availability date, the sources cited here do not establish a specific iPhone Duo case SKU with verified hinge clearance, nor do they provide an independent test comparing hinge-cover and hinge-free cases for this phone. Apple says its hinge uses more than 100 components, a design specification rather than a comparative durability result. Wait for a manufacturer to name iPhone Duo compatibility and explain fit before treating a listing as suitable.
