Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For people using both iPhone and Android, choose a calendar app around the account that owns the events and the people who need to share them—not the phone brand. Google Calendar and Outlook are documented options for both platforms. Apple Calendar can display synced Google events on iPhone, but the available evidence does not establish it as an Android app.
Start with the calendar account, not the phone
A calendar app is the interface; the account is where the calendar and its permissions live. First identify where the events your household or team relies on are stored: Google, Microsoft 365 or Exchange, iCloud, or more than one service. Then check that the app each person will use can access that account and supports the sharing or editing they need.

Google documents syncing its calendar on Android and iPhone or iPad, and gives iPhone users the option to view Google events in Apple Calendar. Its guidance is titled Sync Calendar with a phone or tablet. Seeing events from another account in an app does not, by itself, establish that every feature syncs both ways. Confirm behavior for the specific account and app version before relying on it.
Compare the cross-platform options
| App | Platform fit | Best fit when | Sharing and work considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Google documents its app and calendar syncing for Android and iPhone or iPad. | Important events already live in Google, or collaborators need a shared Google calendar. | Google describes shared calendars that others can view, add to, or modify. Check the specific calendar’s access settings and your work account’s rules. |
| Microsoft Outlook | Available for iOS and Android, according to Microsoft. | Work scheduling is already in Microsoft 365 or Exchange, or users want email and calendar together. | Microsoft documents per-person sharing permissions and enterprise configuration controls. Follow employer policy for managed accounts. |
| Apple Calendar | The documented route here is for iPhone; a current Android app was not established. | An iPhone user prefers Apple Calendar but needs to view Google events. | Google events can be displayed in Apple Calendar after syncing. For an iPhone-and-Android group, coordinate through an account both sides can use and verify edit permissions. |
Choose Google Calendar when Google owns the shared schedule
Google Calendar is a straightforward candidate when the household or team already uses Google calendars. Google’s iPhone App Store listing says the app can show Google events alongside device calendars, including Exchange and iCloud, and describes shared calendars with options for others to view, add, or modify events. These are Google’s own feature descriptions, not independent comparative test results. See Google Calendar on the App Store.

Google also documents an iPhone route for people who want Apple Calendar as their interface: sync the Google account and display its events there. This makes Apple Calendar useful for that iPhone setup, but does not make it a shared app for Android users.
Choose Outlook when Microsoft is the work hub
Outlook is a strong first option when work events already live in Microsoft 365 or Exchange, especially if staff need email, contacts, files, and calendar in one mobile workspace. Microsoft describes those combined Outlook mobile features and organizational capabilities in its Outlook for iOS and Android documentation.

Before inviting collaborators, decide whether each should only see events or also be allowed to make changes. Microsoft’s instructions are in Share a calendar in Outlook mobile.

For any shared calendar, separate “can see” from “can edit.” A family member who only needs to know when someone is busy may not need permission to change events; a co-organizer may. Use the calendar owner’s sharing controls, grant only the access required, and remove access when it is no longer needed.

Check privacy and workplace rules before connecting a work calendar
On Android, Google documents a setting that controls whether Calendar data is shared with other apps. Google notes that turning this off can affect some Android system features, including automatic Do Not Disturb during meetings. Review the implications in Google Calendar data sharing with other apps.
For managed Microsoft Exchange accounts, administrators can apply enterprise configuration controls, including policies that affect native calendar synchronization. Microsoft describes these controls in its Outlook for iOS and Android documentation. If an employer manages the account or device, use the organization-approved app and configuration rather than connecting the calendar to another app without approval.
