How to Check Your Claude Usage and Reset Schedule

Check Claude’s Settings > Usage page for current session progress, remaining time, and the weekly reset time assigned to your account.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For supported paid Claude plans, open Settings > Usage to see your session and weekly usage, along with the next reset time shown for your account. The weekly reset is account-specific, so use the time in your own settings rather than relying on a general schedule.

Find your Claude usage and next reset time

  1. Sign in to the Claude account you want to check.
  2. Open Settings, then select Usage.
  3. Check the current-session section for your usage progress and how much time remains in the session.
  4. Check the weekly usage section for the next reset time. Where applicable, the page may also show separate usage information for models or features.

Anthropic’s usage guidance identifies Settings > Usage as the place to check these limits. The reviewed guidance covers Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise. Usage-based Enterprise accounts do not have specific usage limits, but can track consumption in the same settings area. The available guidance does not confirm whether Free accounts have the same meter or reset display, so check the Free account’s own interface rather than assuming it matches.

How Claude’s reset schedules work

Session limit

For Pro, the session usage limit resets every five hours. The Usage page shows the remaining time for the current session; the five-hour interval is a plan rule, not a promise of a fixed number of messages.

Weekly limit

Pro’s weekly limit resets at a fixed time assigned to the account. It does not shift based on when you start using Claude or when your subscription begins. Anthropic says, “You can see your next reset time in Settings > Usage,” in its Pro usage guidance. Follow the timestamp displayed in your account; there is no single weekly reset day or hour established for everyone.

Why usage can vary from one session to another

Claude does not promise a universal number of prompts per session. Usage depends on the size of your messages and attachments, the length of the conversation, the model and effort level, and whether you use tools such as Research or web search, create artifacts, or run multi-step tasks. Reusing cached content in Projects can count less against usage. Anthropic describes these factors in its usage and length limits guidance.

If your allowance appears to run down faster than expected, consider the size of the files you attach and whether a long conversation or tool-heavy task is driving usage. The Usage page is the account-specific reference; estimates of how many messages fit into a limit are not guarantees.

Claude chat limits are separate from API billing

A Pro subscription covers Claude chat, not API usage through Claude Console. Console API access is billed separately; see Anthropic’s plan guidance for the distinction. If you routinely reach a chat allowance, Max offers individual 5x and 20x usage tiers; existing users can find upgrade options under Settings > Billing. Check the current Claude plan information for details, which may change.
