Open Settings and look under About phone (sometimes About device) for a field such as Processor, CPU, SoC or Chipset. If it is not shown, use the phone’s exact model number to find the manufacturer’s specifications. Menu names vary by brand, so there is no single Settings path that works on every Android phone.
Check the processor in Android Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone, About device or a similarly named device-information page. If needed, look inside a System menu.
- Scan for Processor, CPU, SoC, Chipset or Hardware information. The displayed labels and details depend on the manufacturer.
For example, ASUS documents Settings > System > About phone > Hardware information for CPU and RAM details. TCL directs users to Settings > System > About phone for information that includes CPU, model, Android version, RAM, storage and battery. These are brand-specific routes, not universal Android instructions. ASUS’s instructions and TCL’s support page show the difference.
If Settings does not show a processor
Find the exact model number
On the About phone or device-information screen, copy the full model number—not just the phone’s marketing family name. Motorola, for instance, documents model-number locations including Settings > About phone > Model > Model Number (SKU) and Settings > System > About phone > Hardware information > SKU. The exact label and location may differ on your phone. Motorola’s model-number guide lists its routes.
Look up the model on the manufacturer’s site
Search the phone maker’s official product specifications or support pages for that exact model number. Matching the full model helps avoid confusing variants in the same product family. If the manufacturer’s page does not identify the processor clearly, do not infer it from a similar model; check the device’s support information or use an on-device hardware report instead.

Use CPU-Z for an on-device hardware report
If you want more detail than Settings provides, CPU-Z for Android is an optional app. CPUID says it reports the SoC name, architecture and clock speed for each core, along with device, memory, battery and sensor information. Its page lists version 1.57, dated June 16, 2026. CPUID also notes that the app requires Internet permission for online validation and offers an in-app purchase to remove advertising.
These labels describe different things: the SoC is the processor platform or chipset name; architecture describes how the CPU is designed; and clock speed is a reported operating frequency for a core. A clock-speed figure alone does not identify the chipset or provide a complete measure of phone performance.
