NBA 2K25’s offline options depend on the exact mode and whether a feature connects to 2K’s servers. 2K says Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA will remain playable after the online-service shutdown; its service-status page also lists 2KU/Learn 2K. MyCAREER and MyTEAM, along with server-dependent features, will stop working starting January 1, 2027. Here’s how to check a specific feature before you rely on it.
Which NBA 2K25 modes does 2K say work offline?
2K’s server-sunset notice says owners can redownload NBA 2K25 and play offline modes. It names Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA. The separate 2K Online Services Status page lists 2KU/Learn 2K as an offline mode and uses the labels MyNBA/MyLeague/MyGM and MyWNBA and the W. The pages use slightly different names, so treat these as the modes 2K identifies—not a guarantee that every feature within them works offline.

When does NBA 2K25’s online service end?
2K’s sunset notice, published September 3, 2026 and updated October 2, 2026, says NBA 2K25 will be discontinued on December 31, 2026. Its service-status page lists the same date for online-service retirement. The notice says online modes and server-dependent features will be unavailable starting January 1, 2027. It also says the game will no longer be available for purchase starting October 30, 2026.

How to check whether a particular feature works offline
- Identify the exact feature. Distinguish a general mode name from its online version—for example, Play Now versus Play Now Online, or The W versus The W Online. 2K’s NBA 2K25 launch announcement says internet access and an online account are required for online features and bonus-content redemption or use. It lists MyCAREER, MyTEAM, MyNBA, The W Online and Play Now Online as examples.
- Check 2K’s offline and sunset lists. If a mode is named as playable offline, that does not mean every function inside it is offline. Treat features 2K identifies as requiring its servers—including multiplayer, Online Leagues and community sharing—as unavailable after retirement.
- Verify on your own setup. Make sure the game is installed or can be redownloaded for the account and platform you use, then disconnect the console or PC from the internet and try the intended mode. This is a practical check, not a platform-specific procedure supplied by 2K.
- If it fails, troubleshoot the platform setup. Reconnect and check that platform’s license, installation and update settings, or contact 2K support. The official sources do not give a universal offline activation or first-launch procedure for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch or PC.
What to keep in mind about single-player content
“Single-player” does not necessarily mean “offline.” 2K explicitly says MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be available from January 1, 2027, while other named modes remain playable. For any mode that depends on an account connection, online service or server-based feature, use 2K’s stated availability rather than assuming that solo play will continue to function.
