Check the installed Windows version in Settings
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Find Windows specifications and read the value beside Version. That label identifies the Windows release installed on the PC. Microsoft Support explains where to find device and Windows information.
Use winver as a quicker alternative
Select taskbar Search, type winver, and press Enter. The Windows version information window shows the release running on the device. Microsoft also documents this route in its Windows device information guidance.

What 26H1 and 26H2 mean for your PC
Microsoft says Windows 11, version 26H2 reached general availability on September 29, 2026. Its rollout is phased, and eligible devices running 24H2 or 25H2 may receive the update through Windows Update. A missing offer does not by itself mean the PC is ineligible; availability depends on the device and rollout status. See Microsoft’s Windows 11, version 26H2 release-health page.

Version 26H1 has a different scope: Microsoft describes it as a release for select new devices, not an in-place update intended for existing 24H2 or 25H2 PCs. The installed-version label in Settings or winver tells you what is actually on the PC, regardless of which upgrade Windows Update offers. Microsoft’s Windows 11, version 26H1 overview describes that release scope.

If you are checking because you expected an update
First check the installed version using either method above. If it says 24H2 or 25H2, Windows Update may offer 26H2 when it is available for that particular device; the version label alone cannot establish individual eligibility. Microsoft’s enablement-package guidance explains the update path for eligible devices.
