Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo check a new NVIDIA feature, first confirm your exact GPU model, then look up that feature in NVIDIA’s RTX generation comparison and check its app, driver, and game requirements. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is an RTX 40-series Ada Lovelace card: it supports several RTX features, but not every feature NVIDIA releases. In particular, DLSS Multi Frame Generation is assigned to RTX 50 Series, not RTX 40 Series.
1. Confirm that your card is the RTX 4070 Ti
Start by checking the GPU name in Windows Device Manager or the NVIDIA App. Make sure it says GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, not GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER; these are distinct models, so use the row for the exact card when checking compatibility.

NVIDIA lists the RTX 4070 Ti with 7,680 CUDA cores and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory on its RTX 4070 family specifications page. Those specifications can help confirm which model you have, but identifying the GPU is not itself a test of whether a particular feature works.
2. Check NVIDIA’s feature table, one feature at a time
Use NVIDIA’s GeForce generation comparison to check the RTX 40 Series entry for the feature you want. NVIDIA identifies RTX 40 as Ada Lovelace, with third-generation ray-tracing cores and fourth-generation Tensor Cores. Its comparison lists DLSS Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, and DLAA support for the generation.

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Do not treat “DLSS” as a single yes-or-no compatibility label. DLSS features can have different hardware eligibility and software requirements. Check the specific feature name, then confirm whether the game or application you use supports it.
DLSS 4 and DLSS model updates
NVIDIA’s App update information describes DLSS model upgrades and overrides for compatible games. It says the Frame Generation model upgrade covers RTX 40 and RTX 50 GPUs, while Multi Frame Generation Override is specifically for RTX 50 Series. Therefore, an RTX 4070 Ti may use supported DLSS model upgrades or overrides where available, but that does not mean it supports every feature grouped under newer DLSS branding.
NVIDIA Smooth Motion
NVIDIA says Smooth Motion is available on all GeForce RTX 40-series GPUs when the required new NVIDIA App and Game Ready Driver updates are installed. NVIDIA describes it as a driver-based AI model that infers an additional frame between two rendered frames for titles without DLSS Frame Generation support. It is still limited to compatible games using DirectX 11, DirectX 12, or Vulkan.

Features reserved for RTX 50 Series
NVIDIA assigns DLSS Multi Frame Generation to RTX 50 Series. An app or driver update can deliver eligible software features to an RTX 40 GPU, but it cannot make the RTX 4070 Ti an RTX 50-series card or grant access to a feature NVIDIA restricts to that generation.
3. Check the software and game requirements
GPU support is only one part of compatibility. A feature can require a particular NVIDIA App or driver version, and the individual game or creative application must implement it. NVIDIA’s NVIDIA App update notes document the requirements for Smooth Motion and DLSS overrides. Consult the current notes for the feature you want, since app menus and compatibility can change.
- Update the NVIDIA App and Game Ready Driver if the feature’s instructions require them. Smooth Motion requires both updates.
- Check the game or application’s own settings and support notes. A GPU eligible for a feature will not show a setting in software that does not support it.
- Check where the feature is enabled. Some options are set inside a game; others are configured in the NVIDIA App.
4. Enable and verify supported features
Turn on Smooth Motion
- Install the NVIDIA App and Game Ready Driver updates required by NVIDIA’s Smooth Motion instructions.
- Open NVIDIA App > Graphics > Program settings > Driver Settings.
- Select a compatible DirectX 11, DirectX 12, or Vulkan game and switch on Smooth Motion.
- Launch the game and check its behavior. If the setting is absent, confirm that the title and API are supported and that both software updates are installed.
Check a DLSS override
- Open the NVIDIA App’s Graphics settings and select a compatible game.
- Review the available DLSS override settings and apply the supported option you want.
- Launch the game and use NVIDIA’s DLSS statistics view or the Alt+R overlay to check whether an override is active.
Overrides apply only to compatible games; an available setting in the NVIDIA App is not proof that every title will use it.

5. If a feature toggle is missing
A missing option does not by itself prove that the RTX 4070 Ti lacks the hardware capability. Check these likely causes in order:
- The wrong GPU model was checked. Verify the displayed name and use the RTX 4070 Ti entry, not the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER entry.
- The app or driver is out of date. Install the versions named in the feature’s NVIDIA instructions.
- The game or application does not support the feature. Check its own compatibility notes and settings.
- The feature is configured elsewhere. Look in the NVIDIA App for driver-level options such as Smooth Motion, and in the game for features it implements directly.
- The feature is restricted to another GPU generation. Check NVIDIA’s generation comparison rather than inferring eligibility from a DLSS label.
Use NVIDIA’s current feature and release notes together with the title’s compatibility information before deciding that the GPU itself is the limitation.
