Compare your PC with EA’s minimum and recommended requirements, then check the game’s built-in FPS counter during a match. EA describes its recommended tier as targeting smooth 60 FPS, but that is not a guarantee for every computer; your observed performance and monitor matter too.
What Apex Legends requires on PC
EA’s English-language PC requirements page lists these minimum and recommended specifications. The page was accessed October 7, 2026; its publication or revision date is not stated. Because the listed processor and graphics-card models are older, treat them as compatibility reference points, not current buying recommendations.

| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10 | 64-bit Windows 10 |
| CPU | Intel Core i3-6300 at 3.8 GHz or AMD FX-4350 at 4.2 GHz quad-core | Intel Core i5-3570K or equivalent |
| Memory | 6 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 950 or AMD Radeon HD 7790 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 |
| GPU memory and DirectX | 2 GB GPU RAM; DirectX 12 feature level 12_0 required | EA lists 8 GB GPU RAM; DirectX 12 support is specified on the page |
| Free storage | 75 GB | 75 GB |
EA says the recommended specifications are intended for smooth 60 FPS gameplay. Meeting the minimum is not the same as meeting that recommended target, and neither tier guarantees a particular frame rate on every system. Check EA’s official Apex Legends PC requirements for the current list, since game requirements can change.

How to compare your PC with the requirements
- Check the operating system, processor, and installed RAM. Use the system information tools available in Windows to identify those details, then compare the exact CPU model and memory amount with EA’s table.
- Check the graphics card and DirectX support. Identify the installed GPU model and confirm DirectX 12 compatibility. For the listed minimum GPU, EA specifies feature level 12_0; a card name alone does not confirm that requirement.
- Check available disk space. Compare free space on the drive where you plan to install the game with EA’s 75 GB requirement.
- Assess each part separately. A PC can meet some listed requirements and miss others. Record the specific shortfall rather than relying on a general impression that the computer is “gaming-ready.”
EA’s requirements provide the comparison points, but do not prescribe a Windows menu path for finding every specification. Menu names can also vary across Windows versions and configurations.

How to measure FPS in the game
- Open Apex Legends and go to Settings > Gameplay.
- Switch Performance Display on. EA says the display shows FPS and ping in the top-right corner. See EA Help’s instructions for displaying an FPS counter in EA games on PC.
- Play a match and watch the FPS reading during gameplay. A brief reading is an observation at that moment, not proof that the same rate will hold throughout a match.
FPS and ping measure different things. FPS is about how many frames the PC renders; ping is network information. A high ping reading is not, on this evidence, a reason to diagnose the graphics card as the problem.
What “smooth” performance means
Use 60 FPS as a practical reference rather than a universal pass/fail line: EA says its recommended specifications target smooth 60 FPS, and its FPS guidance notes that most players aim for around 60 FPS. The monitor affects what you can see, so consider its capabilities alongside the in-game reading. EA does not promise that every PC meeting the recommended tier will deliver an identical experience. See EA’s FPS guidance.

What to do if FPS is lower than you want
Try graphics changes before considering hardware
EA advises using the lowest graphics settings possible to maximize FPS. You can also lower a few graphics options at a time and watch the counter to see whether they help; EA does not quantify a specific gain for an individual PC. Its guidance is available in EA’s Apex Legends PC settings article.
Identify the mismatch before planning an upgrade
If settings changes do not meet your target, use the requirements comparison to identify whether the gap is in the CPU, GPU, memory, or storage. EA’s requirements list is not a recommendation for which current component to buy. A purchase decision needs current product details and independent performance comparisons; the older GPU names in EA’s table should not be treated as shopping advice.

Be cautious with FPS-cap changes
EA notes that changing the FPS cap can cause performance issues and recommends checking PC specifications before changing it. Avoid assuming that a launch command or a third-party utility will improve performance: the cited EA guidance does not establish that outcome.
