Check the exact application’s official hardware and backend requirements, then match its GPU, operating system, driver or runtime, and framework versions against AMD’s release-specific compatibility information. For the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, the integrated GPU is Radeon 8060S Graphics, identified as gfx1151 in AMD documentation. A broad claim that an app supports AMD GPUs or ROCm is not proof that this particular combination is supported.
1. Confirm the exact processor and integrated GPU
Start with the model in your own computer’s system information. AMD’s documented example is the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with Radeon 8060S Graphics and the gfx1151 architecture target. Other Ryzen AI Max processors may use different graphics models, so do not assume the 395’s listing applies to them.

2. Check the application’s own requirements
Open the software vendor’s official system requirements, supported-hardware page, or release notes for the precise application version you intend to run. Look for the named Radeon 8060S or gfx1151, and identify which compute backend the application actually supports—for example ROCm or DirectML where documented by that application.

- GPU model or architecture
- Operating system and release
- GPU driver and runtime
- Framework and language version, if applicable
- Application version and any workload, plugin, or model-specific requirements
A GPU appearing on a hardware list does not confirm support if the required OS, driver, runtime, framework, or application release does not match. AMD also cautions that its compatibility information is specific to software components and releases; consult the relevant matrix and installation instructions rather than treating ROCm as a blanket certification. 3. Match the documented versions and platform
For example, AMD’s Windows support matrix lists Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and gfx1151 for its Windows PyTorch route with ROCm 7.2.1 on Windows 11. The listed versions are PyTorch 2.9.1 and Python 3.12; the matrix shows FP16 under AI data types. AMD’s qualification matters: “Pytorch on Windows includes ROCm 7.2 components; however, the entire ROCm stack is not yet supported on Windows.” This establishes that documented PyTorch combination, not universal ROCm support for Windows apps.
For Linux or another ROCm release, do not carry those Windows versions across by assumption. Use the matrix and installation guide for the release you plan to install; AMD publishes a separate ROCm 10.0.0 compatibility matrix, whose platform requirements are release-specific.

4. Use AMD’s ComfyUI setup as a concrete example—not a universal guarantee
AMD documents a native Windows ComfyUI setup for Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with Radeon 8060S. Its guide specifies Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Adrenalin Edition 32.0.31019 or newer, ROCm 7.2.1, Python 3.12, and PyTorch 2.9.1+rocm7.2.1. That is evidence for the documented configuration, not a promise that every ComfyUI extension, workflow, or machine behaves identically. The guide’s example uses 128 GB LPDDR5X unified memory and reports approximately 94 GB as GPU-accessible; those are configuration details for that system, not universal memory figures for all Ryzen AI Max+ computers.

AMD’s Ryzen AI developer hub describes ROCm, DirectML, and Lemonade as possible routes for deploying models on an iGPU. It describes DirectML as a workflow that converts models to ONNX and optimizes them for the Ryzen processor’s iGPU. These routes are not interchangeable: the application or workflow must explicitly support the route and versions you plan to use. AMD’s Ryzen AI Software overview provides product-level context, while its ROCm Software page qualifies support to select Radeon graphics cards.

6. Decide whether support is confirmed
Use the following distinctions when the documentation is incomplete:
- Confirmed for your setup: The application vendor names the GPU or architecture and backend, and the OS, driver/runtime, framework, and application versions match.
- Documented by AMD, but not necessarily by the app vendor: AMD provides a working route or component compatibility entry, but the application’s own support documentation does not confirm it.
- Experimental or unconfirmed: Only user reports, community instructions, or workarounds describe the combination. Treat those as evidence that someone has tried it, not as official support.
If the application is not listed in AMD’s examples, check the application vendor’s documentation or support channel. Recheck after updates to the application, driver, operating system, or ROCm, because support can change between releases.
