Check the status of one published Short

In YouTube Studio, select Content.

Find the Short you want to check and inspect its monetization status in the content list or its details.
This check is different from Earn: a channel can be eligible for YPP while a particular upload has a different status. If you have not accepted the Shorts Monetization Module, you will not earn Shorts Feed ad revenue even if a Short has eligible views.
Know which YPP threshold applies
YouTube’s official eligibility guidance, checked October 3, 2026, distinguishes the lower expanded YPP tier from the higher threshold for Shorts Feed ad revenue and YouTube Premium revenue sharing.

These thresholds are listed by YouTube’s YPP overview and eligibility guidance and its expanded YPP guidance. The expanded tier’s availability depends on country. Meeting a threshold starts the standard channel review; it does not guarantee acceptance.
Which Shorts views count toward eligibility?
The threshold uses qualified views from public Shorts that appear in the Shorts Feed. Under YouTube’s current guidance, these do not count toward the YPP Shorts threshold:
- Views of private, unlisted, or deleted Shorts.
- Views generated through ad campaigns.
- Views of image posts appearing in the Shorts Feed.
Shorts Feed watch time also does not count toward the separate 4,000-hour long-form watch-time route. Do not confuse “qualified Shorts views” for reaching YPP eligibility with “eligible engaged views,” the terminology YouTube uses in its Shorts revenue policy to describe revenue calculations.

Why a qualifying channel or Short may not earn
Channel review and program requirements
Even after the numbers are met, YouTube reviews the channel against its monetization policies. The channel must be in a region where YPP is available, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, follow channel monetization policies, enable Google Account 2-Step Verification, have access to advanced features, and link an AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube’s eligibility guidance describes the review and requirements.

Shorts content must be eligible
Shorts must comply with advertiser-friendly guidelines, and non-original or artificially inflated views are not eligible for Shorts revenue sharing. YouTube gives examples of non-original Shorts including unedited movie or TV clips, reuploads of other creators’ material, and compilations without original contribution. See YouTube Shorts monetization policies.
YouTube also says Shorts longer than one minute that contain claimed content are blocked and ineligible for monetization. This is a specific rule for claimed content in Shorts over one minute; it should not be read as a blanket rule for every Short that uses music or has any claim.
Accept the Shorts Monetization Module
To share in Shorts Feed ad revenue, a monetizing partner must accept the Shorts Monetization Module. Views accrued before acceptance do not receive Shorts ad revenue sharing retroactively. YouTube’s Shorts monetization policy explains the module requirement.

Eligibility is not a guaranteed payment
Shorts Feed ads run between Shorts. YouTube pools relevant ad revenue, allocates a Creator Pool based partly on engaged views and music use, then pays monetizing creators 45% of their allocation. Music use can affect how revenue is allocated to music licensing, but the creator share rate remains 45% whether music is used or not. A creator’s earnings depend on their share of eligible engaged views in a country and the pool available there, so crossing the YPP threshold does not translate into a fixed payment. What changes on February 1, 2027
YouTube has announced that beginning February 1, 2027, the 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days threshold will apply for each month’s Shorts Creator Pool ad and YouTube Premium revenue eligibility. As of October 3, 2026, this is an announced future rule, not a threshold already in force. Check YouTube’s YPP eligibility guidance and Shorts monetization policy for current terms.
