Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To find out whether a particular Nintendo Switch game runs at 60 frames per second (fps) on Switch 2, first use Nintendo’s compatibility checker to confirm playability, then look for information from the game’s publisher or credible testing of that exact game version and play mode. Nintendo’s checker reports compatibility; it does not certify a game’s frame rate.
Check compatibility first—but don’t treat it as a frame-rate result
- Open Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility checker and search by the exact game title or publisher. The tool is intended to check whether a Switch game is playable on Switch 2 and to flag known compatibility issues.
- Read any result or warning for the title. Nintendo cautions that some games may have partial functionality issues or may not be supported.
- If the game does not appear, do not assume that means either “compatible” or “incompatible.” Nintendo says the results may omit some physical-only or discontinued games unless testing found a compatibility issue.
A compatibility result answers whether the game is playable according to Nintendo’s information—not whether it renders at 60 fps.

Verify the edition and update you mean
Before comparing performance claims, identify whether you mean the original Switch release or a Switch 2 Edition, and whether a Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack is installed. Nintendo offers upgrade packs for select games, and the enhancements differ by title. Check the details for the exact game in Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition upgrade-pack information.
Do not assume that a Switch 2 Edition or upgrade pack raises the frame rate. Look for an explicit statement from the publisher or testing that confirms the change for that title.

Look for title-specific frame-rate evidence
Check the publisher’s information
For a third-party game, start with the publisher’s current product information, support page, or update notes. Nintendo advises: “For specific compatibility information about games published by someone other than Nintendo, please contact the game’s publisher.” A stated frame-rate target or a patch note describing a performance change is more useful than a general claim that the game works on Switch 2.
Use testing that identifies what was tested
If the publisher does not state the frame rate, look for credible, game-specific performance testing. Prefer coverage that names the game build or patch and says whether it tested handheld or docked play. Stronger evidence reports measured frame rates during representative gameplay and notes dips or inconsistent frame pacing, rather than simply repeating that the title is playable.

- Blast off on a high-octane adventure to save a star system from invasion
- Tear through space, soar across planets, and shoot loads of foes out of the sky at every step of the way
- A cinematic take on the Star Fox 64 story, featuring fully voiced dialogue, an epic orchestral soundtrack, and a complete visual overhaul for the Nintendo Switch 2 system
- Enter first-person mode to experience the action from inside the cockpit, and even use mouse controls to fly
- Invite a second player* to join you as a gunner using Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls
- Target versus measured result: A 60 fps target or ceiling is not proof that the game sustains 60 fps in play.
- Mode: Docked and handheld results may differ, so match the mode you care about.
- Version: Results from a different edition or software update may not describe the version you have.
- Consistency: An observed 60 fps in one scene does not establish stable performance throughout the game.
These are checks for interpreting performance evidence; Nintendo’s official compatibility pages do not provide measured frame rates for individual games.
Why Switch 2’s output specifications don’t answer the question
Nintendo says Switch 2 can output up to 120 fps in docked mode when both the game and TV support it, while 4K output is capped at 60 fps. These are system output specifications, not a promise that a particular game renders at either rate. A TV’s refresh rate or the console’s maximum output therefore cannot establish that a game runs at 60 fps.

How to report what you found
When sharing a result, name the game, edition, software version or patch if known, and whether the evidence is a publisher statement or a performance test. Describe the result precisely: “Nintendo lists it as playable” is not the same as “the publisher targets 60 fps” or “testing measured stable 60 fps in handheld mode.” If no source establishes performance for your exact version and mode, say that the frame rate is unconfirmed.
