What the battery’s charge-status light means
For the 4V lithium-ion USB Lithium battery covered by RYOBI’s operator manual, check the LED on the battery while it is connected to a USB charging cable:

- Flashing: the battery is charging.
- Steady on: the battery is fully charged.
- Off: there may be no power supply or a USB-C cable error.
The manual identifies the off-light conditions but does not establish that they are the only possible causes. If the LED stays off, work through the checks below.
How to check a battery that shows no light
- Make sure the power source is switched on and working.
- Reseat the USB-C cable at both the power source and the battery.
- Look for visible damage to the cable or connectors. Do not use damaged charging equipment.
- Check the battery’s model number and confirm it is a RYOBI USB Lithium model. Use the matching manual rather than instructions for another RYOBI battery family.
- If it still will not charge, use RYOBI support to locate model-specific repair information or a service center.
These are basic checks, not a guaranteed repair. If the battery has been stored in unusually hot or cold conditions, let it return to ordinary indoor temperature before trying again and follow its manual. The cited manual does not specify a temperature threshold or a temperature-delay light pattern.

Charging status is different from remaining charge
The charge-status LED is observed while the battery is connected to a charging cable. The separate fuel gauge is activated by pressing the battery’s charge-level button; it indicates remaining charge, not whether charging is underway. For the battery covered by the manual, the gauge bands are:
- Solid green: 66–100% remaining.
- Solid orange: 26–65% remaining.
- Solid red: 1–25% remaining.
- Flashing red: less than 1% remaining.
These colors and ranges apply to the model covered by that manual; do not assume every RYOBI battery uses the same display.

Make sure you are looking at the right RYOBI indicator
The cited manual covers a 4V battery in RYOBI’s USB Lithium family. It is not an 18V ONE+ battery, so do not apply ONE+ charger light codes to it.

For example, RYOBI Australia describes the RC43P as a USB Lithium 3-port 3A charger with a panel that communicates charge, temperature, and overload status. Those signals are not the same as the battery’s status LED when it is connected directly to a charging cable. The RC43P is a regional product reference; verify the locally sold charger model and battery compatibility before use. RYOBI Australia’s RC43P information describes that charger.

Find instructions for your exact battery model
Read the model number printed on the battery and enter it on RYOBI’s support page to find the applicable manual, parts, and repair information. The page also lists service centers. Matching instructions to the battery model is safer than relying on generic advice for another RYOBI family.
