That label tells you about ordering through LEGO.com—not whether a particular store has the set on its shelves. To avoid a wasted trip, use LEGO’s store finder and confirm the exact set with the specific store before you leave.
Check the exact set on LEGO.com
- Find the right product page. Search LEGO.com by the set’s name or set number, then make sure the result matches the set you want. Product names can be similar, so verify the number as well.
- Read the availability status beneath the price. LEGO says its product pages show whether an item is currently available. This is useful for deciding whether you can order online, but it does not confirm inventory at a local shop. See LEGO’s availability status definitions.
- Check any timing information. If the page gives a backorder or release date, use that date when deciding whether the set will arrive in time. An order being accepted does not necessarily mean it will ship immediately.
What LEGO’s availability labels mean
| LEGO.com label | What it tells you | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Available now | The set is currently available to order from LEGO.com. | Place an online order if that works for you; contact a local store separately if you plan to buy in person. |
| Backorders Accepted | You can order it, but it will ship on the stated backorder date rather than immediately. | Check the date before ordering or making plans around delivery. |
| Call to check product availability | LEGO says it may still have the item, but stock is low, and asks shoppers to call. | Call LEGO using the contact information on the site to check or place an order. |
| Temporarily out of stock | You cannot order it at present; LEGO expects more stock in the future. | Check the product page again later. The label alone does not tell you when stock will return. |
| Sold out | The set is sold out, and a restock date is not confirmed. | Do not assume it will be restocked by a particular date. |
| Retiring soon | LEGO says the set will be retired very soon. | If you want it from LEGO, check whether it is still orderable and verify stock before travelling. |
| Retired Product | LEGO says the set has left its current assortment and it will not receive more stock. | Look at other retailers if you still want the set, checking the seller and whether the copy is new or used. |
| Coming Soon | The set is an upcoming release, not yet available to buy. | Check the product page for release information. |
| Pre-Order | You can place an order before the set’s release. | Review the release timing shown on the page. |
Confirm stock at the store you plan to visit
LEGO.com’s online status and a shop’s on-site inventory are separate questions. LEGO recommends trying an official LEGO Store if a set cannot be found on its Shop website. Find the nearest official location with LEGO’s store finder, then contact that specific store and ask about the exact set number before setting out. A store listing or an online order status is not confirmation that the item is available there.

If LEGO does not have the set
LEGO lists toy stores, supermarkets, specialty gift shops, department stores, and internet sellers as other places to look. Its guidance notes that retired sets may still be available from other retailers or online shops, but those listings can be for new or used items. Before buying, verify the set number, seller, condition, and current stock directly with the retailer. A search result by itself does not establish that the set is available to purchase.
LEGO’s guidance on other retailers is available in Where to buy LEGO sets.
