Open the Steam Store page for the exact RPG, find System Requirements, and compare its operating system, processor, memory, graphics hardware, and storage with your PC. The minimum specifications are a first screening point—not a guarantee that the game will launch smoothly or deliver a particular frame rate.
Find the game’s system requirements on Steam

Open the Steam Store page for the specific free RPG you want to play. Steam lists a game’s requirements on its Store page; scroll to System Requirements and note both the minimum and recommended entries. See Steam Support’s guidance on checking game performance.

Read the operating-system requirement as its own check. A PC can have sufficiently capable hardware but still lack a supported operating system. Steam advises checking compatible operating systems as well as hardware requirements; see Steam Support’s platform-availability guidance.

Compare your PC with the listed requirements
Check your processor (CPU), installed memory (RAM), graphics hardware (GPU), and available storage. Compare the actual component names and capacities with the game’s entries. If your laptop uses integrated graphics, compare that graphics hardware rather than assuming it has a separate graphics card. CPU clock speed or RAM quantity alone cannot establish full compatibility.

The exact wording and components vary by game, so use the list on that RPG’s Store page rather than a generic Steam-wide specification. Requirements can also change if the developer updates them.
Use minimum and recommended requirements carefully
Minimum requirements are a useful initial screen: if your PC falls short of a listed minimum, compatibility is uncertain. Recommended requirements provide a more cautious comparison. Neither line is a promise of smooth play, a particular visual-quality setting, or a specific frame rate. Steam Support cautions that simply meeting requirements does not mean you will have high FPS or strong in-game performance.

What counts as acceptable performance also depends on your expectations for resolution, graphics quality, and frame rate. Since no particular RPG or PC configuration is specified here, there is no universal performance target or yes/no verdict to give.
What to do if your PC is close to the minimum
Treat a close match as uncertain, not as a confirmed pass. Steam notes that a computer at or near a game’s requirements may encounter launch or performance problems. Recheck your component names against the game’s listing and consult the game’s support information if it does not launch or performs poorly. A comparison with published requirements is not a test of your individual PC.

Do not use Steam Deck status as a PC compatibility verdict
Steam Deck Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown are labels about the experience on Steam Deck. Valve’s categories consider factors such as controls, display, seamlessness, and Proton or system support; they do not establish that a regular desktop or laptop meets the game’s PC requirements.
