Use the latest CSS syllabus linked on the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) website as your checklist, then map every listed topic to a specific lesson, module, or timestamp. Mark each topic covered, partial, missing, or unclear. This shows whether the series appears to address the syllabus; it does not establish that the teaching is accurate, effective, or enough to make you exam-ready.
Start with the current FPSC syllabus
Use the FPSC CSS syllabus listing and open the latest syllabus document linked there. Do not rely only on a coaching provider’s outline, an old downloaded copy, or video descriptions. FPSC says its website is the primary source of candidate information and advises candidates to monitor it for developments. Check the FPSC website for relevant updates and notices.

Save the document and record its title, any publication or update date shown, and the date you checked it. The official PDF titled “Revised Scheme of CSS Competitive Examination” surfaced here describes a 1,200-mark main examination: 600 marks of compulsory subjects and 600 marks of optional subjects. Verify the latest FPSC listing before relying on those figures, as official material can change. The document is available at FPSC’s CSS examination scheme PDF.
Build a topic-by-topic coverage map
Make one row for every official subject and each topic or subtopic under it. Subject names alone are too broad: a course may list a subject while leaving parts of its prescribed scope unaddressed.
#1 Best Overall
Use a table like this, adding rows until every listed syllabus topic has been checked:
| Official subject | Official topic | Matching lesson and timestamp | Status | Evidence or note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copy from the current FPSC syllabus | Copy the listed topic or subtopic | Record the lesson, module, reading, or timestamp | Covered, partial, missing, or unclear | Note what the lesson actually addresses |
- Copy the syllabus language. Keep the official topic wording in the checklist so you can compare like with like.
- Find a traceable match. Record the lesson or module title and, where available, a timestamp or link to the relevant material. A provider’s “complete coverage” claim is not evidence that each topic is taught.
- Assign a status. Use covered when a lesson explicitly treats the topic; partial when it addresses only part of it or appears to mention it briefly; missing when no lesson maps to it; and unclear when the available course material is insufficient to decide.
- Keep evidence with the row. Note what in the outline or lesson supports the match. This makes omissions and uncertain matches easier to revisit.
Judge breadth separately from depth
First count the syllabus topics with traceable lesson matches. Then assess the evidence for substantive treatment: a title that repeats a syllabus heading may establish a possible match, but it does not show how much the lesson explains. Reviewing the actual teaching is necessary to assess its accuracy and quality.
Rank #2
Keep the conclusion precise. “All listed topics mapped” describes the checklist result. It does not mean the course is sufficient preparation: coverage alone cannot establish teaching effectiveness or your readiness for the examination.

| Comparison area | What to check |
|---|---|
| Topic breadth | How many official topics have a traceable lesson match, and which are missing or unclear? |
| Apparent depth | Does the available lesson evidence suggest substantive treatment, or only a brief mention? |
| Transparency | Can you identify the relevant lesson, module, or timestamp for each claimed match? |
| Recency | When was the course material last checked against FPSC updates? |
These comparisons describe syllabus alignment, not a ranking of course quality. A ranking would require current outlines and lesson evidence for the specific series being compared.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Recheck before relying on the course
Before using the series as your study plan, revisit the latest FPSC syllabus listing and relevant candidate notices. If FPSC material has changed since you made the map, update the affected rows and check whether the course has corresponding lessons. Keep the syllabus version and the date of your last check visible in your notes.
