Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo find out whether a classic RPG is available on PS5, search its exact title in your local PlayStation Store, check whether the listing is for PS5 or PS4, and look separately in the Classics Catalog if you want to play it through PlayStation Plus. Those routes are not interchangeable: a native PS5 version, a PS4 game that runs through backward compatibility, and a subscription catalog listing are different ways to play.
Check the game’s listing in your local PlayStation Store
- Search the complete game title, including any subtitle or edition name, in the PlayStation Store on your PS5 or in your region’s Store.
- Open the listing and check the platform label. A PS5 listing identifies a PS5 version. A PS4 listing may still be playable on PS5 through backward compatibility, but a game marked “Playable on: PS4 only” should not be treated as PS5-playable. See PlayStation’s PS4 backward compatibility guidance.
- Check that the listing is for the version you intend to use: digital purchase, physical disc, or another edition. A result for a similarly named game or different release does not confirm availability of the version you want.
PlayStation’s games finder also warns that availability varies by country or region. Verify the listing in your own Store or console rather than relying on another country’s page or an old list.

Look in the Classics Catalog if you have PlayStation Plus
A game might be offered through the subscription catalog even when you are not looking to buy it individually. On PS5, open Games home > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Classics Catalog, then search for the exact RPG title. Check whether the entry offers download or stream.
Catalog access depends on your membership plan. PlayStation’s US plan information lists the Classics Catalog with Premium; plan details and catalogs can differ by region and change over time. Check the PlayStation Plus plan page for the United States or your local PlayStation Plus page, and confirm the title in your console. A catalog listing is not the same as owning the game, and titles can have removal dates. PlayStation explains catalog access on its Classics Catalog support page.

Choose between a PS5 version, a compatible PS4 version, and subscription access
| Route | What to verify | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Native PS5 version | The Store listing identifies a PS5 version. | You are checking the game’s PS5 edition. |
| PS4 version played on PS5 | The exact PS4 title is compatible; check whether it is marked “Playable on: PS4 only.” | It may run on PS5 through backward compatibility, but it is still the PS4 version. |
| Classics Catalog | The exact title appears in your region’s catalog, your membership plan includes access, and the listing’s download or streaming option works for you. | Access is through a subscription catalog, not the same as a standalone purchase. |
| PS5 upgrade for a PS4 game | Check the game’s available versions and upgrade offer; terms vary by title. | An upgrade may provide a PS5 version, but it is not automatic for every PS4 game. See PlayStation’s game versions and upgrades guidance. |
To choose among versions you already have, open the game in your PS5 Game Library, select the options menu, and choose from the versions shown. If no PS5 version or upgrade appears, do not assume one exists for that game.
Check the disc and console before buying a used copy
PS5 supports the overwhelming majority of PS4 games, but PS3 game discs are not supported. A PS4 disc requires a PS5 model with a disc drive; it cannot be used with PS5 Digital Edition. Before buying a used copy, confirm the disc’s generation, the console model, and the game’s compatibility in PlayStation’s compatibility guidance.

A quick decision checklist
- Search the exact title and edition in your own PlayStation Store.
- Identify whether the result is a PS5 version, a PS4 version, or a catalog entry.
- For PS Plus, verify local catalog availability, plan eligibility, access method, and any removal date.
- For a PS4 disc, make sure your PS5 has a disc drive; do not buy a PS3 disc expecting it to work.
- If you want a PS5 edition of a PS4 game, inspect the game’s version and upgrade options rather than assuming an upgrade is offered.
