This guide covers India’s GST Portal. To check selected registration details, use the public Search Taxpayer tool; to request a correction to your own registration, sign in and file the appropriate core- or non-core-field amendment. These are separate tasks, and the public lookup does not provide access to every account field.
How do I check GST registration details?
For a basic public lookup, use the GST Portal’s Search Taxpayer feature. It can display selected information, including a GSTIN or UIN, legal and trade names, effective registration date, business constitution, principal place of business, cancellation date where applicable, and return-filing details.

This is a limited lookup: it does not let you edit another taxpayer’s record or reveal every field in a registrant’s account. If you need to review your own account before making a change, log in to the GST Portal.
How do I correct details in my GST registration?
India’s GST Registration Rules provide for an electronic amendment application in FORM GST REG-13 when particulars in a registration application change, together with documents relating to that change. The applicable rule includes a 15-day submission provision. Check the current text of CBIC’s GST Registration Rules and its context before relying on that deadline for your circumstances.
After signing in, choose the amendment route that matches the field you need to change. The portal separates changes into core and non-core fields; it does not treat every correction as one universal or automatically approved request. Check the current portal guide for the field classification and interface, which may change.
Choose the amendment route for the field
| Route | Portal path | How it is processed |
|---|---|---|
| Core-field amendment | Services > Registration > Amendment of Registration – Core Fields | Processed by a tax official. An amended registration certificate is generated after approval. |
| Non-core-field amendment | Services > Registration > Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields | Auto-approved after successful filing, according to the GST Portal guide. |
The portal’s non-core amendment guide describes the filing route and auto-approval. The GST System Project’s Registration FAQ explains core-field processing and approval. Follow the current guidance for the specific field rather than assuming which category it belongs to.
