Which iPhone models support iOS 27?
Apple’s current compatibility guide lists the following iPhones for iOS 27. Because support can change with later releases, check Apple’s iPhone compatibility guide for the latest list before updating.

Operating-system compatibility does not mean every feature works on every supported phone. Apple notes that feature availability can vary by model, region, language and carrier.
How to check your iPhone model and update availability
- Open Settings > General > About and read the model name.
- Compare that name with Apple’s current compatibility list.
- Open Settings > General > Software Update. If iOS 27 is offered, Apple says it is compatible with your iPhone. If the phone requires an earlier update first, install that version and then check again.
The Software Update screen is also the place to begin the installation; you do not need to download an update from an unrelated website.

Prepare your iPhone before installing
Make and verify a backup
Apple advises backing up before an update. For a manual iCloud backup, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now. Stay connected to Wi-Fi until the backup finishes, then check the last-backup date and time shown on that screen. If the backup cannot complete because storage is insufficient, follow the options shown on the device.
Check power, internet and storage
Use a reliable internet connection, make sure the iPhone has enough free storage, and keep it connected to power during a wireless update. Apple says the time needed varies with the update’s size and the files on the device, so a slow progress bar alone does not mean the phone has stopped responding.

If storage is low, Apple says the iPhone may remove app data that can be downloaded again without affecting personal data. Its update guidance also suggests offloading unused apps or deleting apps to make room.

- Open Settings > General > Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install, then follow the onscreen instructions.
- Keep the iPhone connected to power and the internet while the update downloads and installs.
If iOS 27 has already downloaded, Apple’s instructions say to open Settings, tap Update to iOS 27, then choose Update Now or Update Tonight. To review automatic installation choices, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates.

What to do if iOS 27 will not download or install
Apple identifies several possible causes: an unsupported model, insufficient storage, a slow download, trouble contacting Apple’s update server, or an installation that does not complete. Match the remedy to the problem rather than repeatedly restarting the same download.
- Internet or verification alert: Try again on the current network, then try another network. Apple also lists updating through a Mac or iTunes as alternatives.
- A downloaded update repeatedly fails: Go to Settings > General > [device] Storage, remove the update file, then return to Software Update and download it again.
- Progress appears slow: Leave the iPhone connected to power and allow time for the process. Apple says duration depends on update size and the number of files on the device.
- A computer update reports a USB connection error: Check the cable and try the one supplied with the iPhone or another Apple-certified USB cable. This advice applies to specified computer-update or restore errors, not routine wireless installation.
