Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

On Xbox, a documented route is My games & apps > Manage > Storage devices for each device’s capacity and free space, though menu labels can vary by console software version.
Keep three measurements separate: how much room a drive has left, how much space an installed game occupies, and how much space an uninstalled game will need to download and install. The built-in storage screens are useful for the first; they do not always give an exact game-by-game footprint or a reliable future install requirement.

What storage number are you trying to find?
- Free space: room remaining on a PC drive or Xbox storage device.
- Installed game size: space already occupied by a game and its installed content.
- Future install requirement: the space needed for a game that is not installed yet. This may differ from the download size, and the documented storage screens below do not provide a universal way to look it up.
Start with the relevant device’s storage view to see available room. If you need one game’s installed footprint, check its launcher or console management screen where available; a device-wide total is not the same thing as a per-game size.

See category totals and drive usage
- Open Start > Settings > System > Storage.
- Review the categories, which can include Installed apps, Temporary files, and System & reserved. These totals show how Windows groups storage use; they are not a list of game sizes.
- To inspect another connected drive, open Advanced storage settings > Storage used on other drives, select the drive, and review its usage breakdown. Windows also shows drive details such as type, capacity, and current use under Disks & volumes.
Microsoft’s Windows Storage settings guidance covers Windows 10 and Windows 11 and also explains where to choose the default save locations for new apps and other content. If a game is not using space on C:, another selected drive may be the reason.

Find an installed app or game
- In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Locate the game or launcher in the list. This is a way to find installed programs, but Windows does not promise an exact per-game folder size here for every launcher or install type.
- For a specific game’s footprint, use the game launcher’s own manage or install view if it provides one, or inspect storage on the drive where the game is installed. There is no single launcher-independent procedure established for every PC game.
Microsoft documents the Windows 11 Installed apps route in its guide to checking whether an app or program is installed.
How do I see how much storage I have left on Xbox?
An Xbox Insider release note from August 31, 2022, described this route: My games & apps > Manage > Storage devices. It shows capacity and current free space for each storage device. Because this path comes from a preview build, follow the equivalent Storage or Manage controls shown on your console if the labels differ.

That screen answers how much room is available on a storage device. It does not tell you how large each installed game is just by showing free space. The same preview note refers to selecting a game and opening Manage game and add-ons for game management, but menu wording and available details may differ in current software. See the dated Xbox Insider release note.
How can I tell if an Xbox game will fit before I install it?
First check the free space on the intended storage device using the console’s current Storage or Manage controls. That tells you how much room is available, not the uninstalled game’s full future install requirement. The official Microsoft Store guidance available here explains how to find games in your library, but does not establish a dependable, universal pre-install size lookup. Do not treat the free-space figure or a download figure as the game’s final installed size.

Microsoft’s Microsoft Store guide covers finding apps and games, rather than providing a current prospective-size procedure for Xbox titles. If the exact requirement is not shown in the store or on the console, the available documented guidance does not establish another universal method.

On Windows, review Storage settings and use Windows’ guided Storage Sense or Cleanup recommendations rather than deleting unfamiliar system files. Check which drive is selected for new apps if space is disappearing from an unexpected location. Windows also lets you choose where new apps and other content are saved, as described in Microsoft’s Storage settings documentation.
