Check PlayStation Store Transaction History first. It shows whether a purchase went through and provides its details. You can open it on the web, PS5, PS4, or PlayStation App; if the charge still has no explanation, check subscriptions and family spending, then follow PlayStation’s account-security and support guidance.
Check PlayStation Store Transaction History
Sony’s UK support guide says online history shows the past two years by default. Select a transaction to see its details. Menu wording and refund rules can vary by region and may change, so use the PlayStation support pages for your account region.

If you don’t recognize a payment
Compare the transaction details with the charge on your bank or card statement. Before concluding that someone made an unauthorized purchase, check these common explanations listed by PlayStation Support:
#1 Best Overall
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
- A subscription renewal: Review your subscription settings and payment dates. Subscription payments may have different refund limits from other purchases.
- Spending by a family member: A child account does not have its own PlayStation wallet; it can spend from the family manager’s wallet up to its assigned spending limit. Sony says that limit is set to zero by default when the family manager creates the child account. Check the family accounts and their transaction histories.
- A duplicate transaction: Compare the account history with the statement to see whether the same purchase appears more than once. Some payments have refund limitations.
- Another account using the same payment method: If multiple PlayStation accounts share a card or other payment method, check the transaction history for each one.
If the charge remains unexplained
You have a PlayStation account
Use Sony’s unauthorized-charge guidance and follow the route that matches whether you can still access your account. For a wallet-funding charge that you do not recognize, Sony also advises checking transaction history first; see its wallet-funding troubleshooting guide. Contact PlayStation Support if the charge or account issue is still unresolved.
You don’t have a PlayStation account
If you suspect someone used your payment details to create an account, contact PlayStation Support promptly and change the password for the email account associated with the payment or notification. Sony gives this advice in its guidance for unrecognized payments and compromised accounts.
Rank #2
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Secure the account and ask about a refund
Sony’s US Terms of Service say some devices may offer an account setting that requires a password or another authentication method, such as a passkey, to complete payment transactions. Availability depends on the device and method; enabling an authentication method may disable “Require Password at Checkout” or current two-step verification, or require additional information. Check the account and device settings available to you rather than assuming every option applies.
Sony’s US Store cancellation policy recommends password and passcode tools to help control unauthorized logins and purchases. For a refund request, contact PlayStation Support or use its refund support page. Eligibility depends on the applicable regional policy and purchase type; a refund is not guaranteed.
