Find the security check for your iOS or iPadOS version

| iOS 18 or later; iPadOS 18 or later | Open the Passwords app, then tap Security. Apple introduced the app in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Apple’s Passwords app guide |

Review alerts and act on affected accounts
- Open the relevant security screen using the path for your software version above.
- Review accounts flagged for weak, reused, or compromised passwords. Tap an account to see Apple’s recommendation.
- For a compromised password, select Change Password if available, then change it on the service’s website or in its app. A warning indicates the saved password appeared in a known leak; it does not by itself show that anyone accessed your account.
- If the service offers a passkey or Sign in with Apple, consider using that option. Otherwise, many services let your device create a strong password. Apple’s password security recommendations
What weak, reused, and compromised mean
- Compromised or leaked: Password Monitoring identified the saved password as having appeared in a known data leak. Apple puts it this way: “Passwords are marked leaked if the Password Monitoring feature can claim they have been present in a data leak.” Apple Platform Security: Password security recommendations
- Reused: The same password is used for more than one saved password across different domains. If one service is breached, attackers may try that credential on other services, a technique known as credential stuffing. Apple Platform Security: Password security recommendations
- Weak: The password may be easy to guess—for example, because it uses a dictionary word, common substitutions, a keyboard sequence, or repeated characters. Apple Platform Security: Password security recommendations
Check that compromised-password detection is enabled
On current iPhone and iPad software, go to Settings > Apps > Passwords > Detect Compromised Passwords. Turn on Detect Compromised Passwords to let the device monitor saved passwords and alert you when they appear in known data leaks. Apple’s iPhone password guide

What a clean security screen can—and cannot—tell you
No alert is not proof that every account is safe. Apple describes this feature as checking saved passwords it can monitor against known data leaks; it cannot establish that a password absent from its alerts has never been exposed or that an account has not been accessed. Treat an alert as a reason to change the credential at the affected service, and use a different password for each account.
