Check for and install an Edge update

Open Microsoft Edge.

Select Settings and more (the three-dot menu) in the upper-right corner.

Select Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge, or type
edge://settings/helpin the address bar and press Enter. Microsoft’s update instructions describe this route.Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy. -
Wait while Edge checks for updates. If an update is offered, select Download and install. If Edge says the update is ready and requests a restart, select Restart to finish applying it. Updates are applied when Edge restarts by default, according to Microsoft’s update settings guidance.

Return to the About page to check the displayed version and update status. Microsoft’s version-check instructions also direct users to this page.
Edge checks for updates automatically, but the About page lets you check manually. There is no single version number that applies to every device, channel, and platform; use the version shown on your own About page.

Other ways to update Edge on Windows
Use Windows Update
On a Windows device, open Start > Settings > Windows Update, then select Check for updates. Microsoft says Edge updates may also be delivered through Windows Update. This is an additional route; the About page remains the direct way to check Edge’s displayed version and update status. See Microsoft’s update instructions.
Use Microsoft’s installer if the update fails
If updating through Edge settings or Windows Update does not work, use Microsoft’s official Edge download page to run the installer. Microsoft says favorites, passwords, and settings are kept when Edge is updated.

When Edge does not update
Metered connections and cellular data
On a metered connection, Edge may require you to approve an update because downloading it can use substantial data. A cellular download may incur charges. Microsoft also notes that updates may be off by default on some recently purchased cellular devices in China. Check your connection and data settings before approving a large download. Microsoft’s update settings guidance covers these cases.
Update controls are missing or disabled
If update settings are dimmed or unavailable, an organization may manage Edge for your device. Contact your IT administrator rather than trying to change managed settings yourself.

An update check or installation reports an error
Microsoft’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking network connectivity and Windows Update, restarting Edge, and reinstalling it from Microsoft’s official download page. These are possible troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed fixes. In managed environments, an administrator may also need to allow Edge to reach msedge.api.cdp.microsoft.com for update checks and *.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com for downloads.
