To change your Samsung Galaxy hotspot password, open Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot, then tap Password. Depending on your phone’s model and software, the control may instead be under Information or Configure. Enter the new password and save or confirm it.
Find and change the hotspot password
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections, then Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot to open its settings. On some phones, tap the row or name rather than the on/off switch.
- Tap Password. If that option is not shown, look under Information or Configure.
- Enter the new password, then save or confirm the change.
Samsung says users can view and change the password, but menu options can vary by model and software version. The common route is Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot; older manuals and interfaces may use different labels.

Reconnect devices after changing it
On each device that uses the hotspot, select your Galaxy phone’s network and enter the new password. A device may retain the old password, so update or forget the saved network if it keeps attempting to join with the previous one.

If another device cannot see the hotspot
- Check the hotspot band. Samsung’s guidance suggests 2.4 GHz for broader discovery and compatibility; select another band if needed for your devices and situation. Samsung UK support covers hotspot settings.
- Check whether Hidden network is enabled and turn it off if you want nearby devices to discover the hotspot. Samsung discusses band and visibility settings in its Singapore support guidance.
These changes address discoverability; they do not change the hotspot password. Band choices can affect compatibility and performance, but the cited Samsung guidance does not provide measured speed or range figures.
Optional one-time passwords
Some Galaxy phones offer a one-time-password option that displays a temporary password; toggling the hotspot off and on generates another. Availability depends on the device and software version. Samsung India describes the feature on its Mobile Hotspot support page, updated August 31, 2026.

Using a mobile hotspot consumes battery and mobile data. Tethering may also require a carrier plan that supports it; eligibility and terms vary by carrier and location. Samsung’s Singapore guidance notes both the battery and data considerations.
