To change what opens in a new Firefox window, go to Settings → Home and startup and choose an option under Homepage and new windows. To reopen your previous tabs automatically each time Firefox starts, enable Open previous windows and tabs. Those are separate controls: changing the homepage does not restore a past session.
Choose what opens in a new Firefox window
Firefox’s homepage setting determines what appears when you open a new window. It does not control whether Firefox reopens tabs from your previous session.

- Open the Firefox menu and select Settings.
- Select Home and startup.
- Under Homepage and new windows, choose the behavior you want.
- Firefox Home: Opens Firefox’s default home page.
- Custom URLs…: Opens a page you choose, or several pages.
- Blank page: Opens a new window without a home page.
Mozilla documents this Settings route in its instructions for setting the home page.
Set a custom page from its tab
You can also open the webpage you want, then drag its tab onto the Home button in the toolbar and confirm the prompt. The Home button is hidden by default; Mozilla says it is added automatically when you set a custom homepage.

Use more than one custom page
Choose Custom URLs… and use the controls displayed there to enter the page addresses. To use pages already open in tabs, open each page in its own tab and select Use Current Pages.
Reopen your previous windows and tabs every time
To have Firefox automatically restore the previous session whenever it starts, turn on Open previous windows and tabs. Depending on how your Firefox interface presents the settings, find the option in Settings → General or Settings → Home and startup, under Startup. The change saves automatically when you close Settings.

With this option enabled, Firefox opens the previous windows and tabs at startup instead of the homepage you selected. Mozilla’s session-restoration instructions cover the setting and related recovery options.

If you want to recover the last session without changing Firefox’s startup behavior, open the Firefox menu and select History → Restore Previous Session. This is a one-time action; for automatic restoration at every startup, use Open previous windows and tabs.
