A third-party guide on GetDroidTips names two GCam port builds for this model, AGC 9.6.19 and BSG MGC 9.4.103, and says compatibility may vary with software updates or device configuration. That is a publisher’s suggestion, not an independent test. Treat both builds as unverified candidates on this exact handset until you have checked them yourself.
What the official specifications confirm about the phone
TECNO’s POVA Curve 2 5G technical specifications page lists the handset with HiOS 16, based on Android 16, a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor, a 50 MP plus 2 MP rear camera system, and a 13 MP front camera. These are manufacturer specifications. They identify the phone, but they say nothing about whether a Google Camera port will install, launch, or use the sensors correctly.

Which GCam builds are named, and who named them
GetDroidTips’ Google Camera for Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G guide lists the two builds below for this model. The page presents them as available options. It does not show test results for either build on this handset, and neither TECNO nor Google endorses them.

The sources reviewed contain no test of any named build on this phone or any stated HiOS build. They also do not report which camera modes, lenses, HDR processing, video features, or the front camera work in either port. Until those points are documented, do not assume that a build which installs will produce a usable camera.

Why Android version does not settle compatibility
A Google Camera port depends on the camera capabilities the device exposes to apps, not only on the Android version. Android’s camera version support documentation describes Camera2 hardware levels (LEGACY, LIMITED, FULL, and LEVEL_3) and individual capabilities that apps can query. The sources reviewed do not report the POVA Curve 2 5G’s Camera2 hardware level or whether it exposes RAW capture. An Android 16 base therefore does not prove that a port has the features it needs.
Google’s ARCore supported devices list includes the TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G among devices that support the Depth API. That is evidence of ARCore support only. It does not show Camera2 FULL or LEVEL_3 support, RAW capture, or compatibility with any GCam build.

Before you install any port
- Back up your data. A failed sideload is easier to recover from when photos, messages, and accounts are already backed up.
- Keep the stock camera available. Do not remove or disable TECNO’s camera app until you have confirmed the port works for the modes you need.
- Check the file’s source and integrity. The publisher’s page is not a guarantee. Compare the file name, size, and version with what the guide lists before installing.
- Read the permissions the app requests. A camera app will ask for camera, microphone, and storage access. Decline anything the app does not need for its function.
- Confirm your software build. The guide itself says compatibility may change with updates, so note your current HiOS version before you start.
What to check after installation
Judge the port by what you can verify on the phone rather than by the label on the download page. Test each rear lens, the front camera, photo modes, and video recording separately, and compare the results with TECNO’s stock camera in the same lighting. Note any crash on launch, black preview, failed capture, or missing modes. If the port misbehaves, uninstall it and confirm that the stock camera opens and records normally before you try another build.

Troubleshooting when a port fails
- The app will not install. Confirm the file is complete and matches the build you intended. Reinstalling the same file rarely helps when the build does not fit your software version.
- The app opens but the camera preview is black or frozen. The port may not have access to the camera capabilities it expects. Uninstall it and use the stock camera.
- Some modes work and others do not. Treat that as a partial result. Only the modes you have tested are known to work.
- The guide suggests changing a build property. The guide itself notes this does not apply to every device, and no authoritative source in the sources reviewed validates it for this phone. Do not attempt system-level changes on this basis.
What remains unknown
Three questions remain open in the available sources: whether either named build installs and launches on this model, which camera features work, and how image and video quality compare with the stock camera. Any answer to those questions should come from a test that records the exact APK build, the HiOS version, the lenses and modes checked, and the results. Until someone publishes that kind of test, the safest assumption is that the stock camera is the only verified camera app on this phone.

TECNO’s own specifications and Google’s ARCore list are reliable for the points they cover, but neither addresses GCam compatibility. Third-party download pages can change or disappear, so check any link against the publisher’s current page and avoid sites that ask you to install an extra downloader or grant unrelated permissions.
Use the stock camera unless and until a port has been confirmed on your own phone.
