Change the name on your regular Amazon account
- Sign in to Amazon and open Your Account.
- Select Login & Security.
- Choose Edit beside the name or account information you want to update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, save the change, and select Done.
Amazon lists name changes alongside updates to phone number, email address, and password on its Login & Security help page. This route changes customer account information; it is not the editor for a public profile name.

Change your public profile name or image
To change what appears on your Amazon public profile, open Your Profile, select Edit profile, update the public name or image, and save. This is separate from the account name in Login & Security. Follow Amazon’s profile and account help if the profile controls differ in your region or interface.

Change a seller storefront display name
In Seller Central, go to Settings > Account Info > Store Info > Your Seller Profile, edit the Display Name, and submit. Amazon defines this as the name customers see on your listings and Seller Profile; it is not the name-edit route for a regular shopping account. Consult Seller Central’s display-name help and use the labels shown for your marketplace.

Understand KDP account names and author bylines
KDP account identity
KDP may require identity verification. The account name and country must match the ID submitted. If your legal name has changed but your ID has not yet been updated, KDP says to use details matching the current ID for verification, then update the KDP account after the ID is updated. See KDP identity-verification guidance.
Author name on a book
A book’s author field can use a pen name. That byline is distinct from the account identity KDP uses for verification, so changing the author name does not replace the identity information required for the account.

Does changing your Amazon name also change Amazon Pay?
Amazon says a name change made on the Amazon website under Login & Security applies to both Amazon and Amazon Pay. See Amazon Pay help.
If the name edit is unavailable or does not appear
Amazon’s general customer instructions tell you to follow the on-screen steps and save, but do not give a universal reason an edit may be blocked or a guaranteed time for the new name to appear across services. If the page prevents the change or asks for verification, use the help or support channel for the specific account involved: customer account, Seller Central, or KDP. Avoid assuming that a delay or a different display means the wrong setting was changed.
