To connect a Ring Doorbell to a different Wi-Fi network, open the Ring app and go to Menu > Devices > [your doorbell] > Device Health. Under Network, tap Change Network or Reconnect, then follow the prompts to choose the new network and enter its password. Keep your phone near the doorbell while it reconnects.
Before you start
Make sure you can sign in to the Ring account that manages the doorbell, and have the new Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password ready. Ring products require a home Wi-Fi network, a phone or tablet, and the Ring app for setup and use, according to Ring’s product and service FAQ.

Change the Wi-Fi network in the Ring app
- Open the Ring app and tap Menu.
- Tap Devices, then select the doorbell you want to reconnect.
- Open Device Health.
- In the Network section, tap Change Network or Reconnect, whichever appears, and follow the on-screen prompts. Ring documents this path in its offline-device support guide.
- When asked, select the new Wi-Fi network and enter its password. Stay near the doorbell with your phone until the app finishes reconnecting; Ring’s doorbell setup guide also advises remaining close to the device during setup.
- Return to Device Health and check that the doorbell is online.
Repeat these steps for each Ring doorbell or camera that needs to use the new network; reconnecting one device does not change the network for the others. Ring’s guidance for moving with Ring devices addresses reconnecting devices individually.

- Power: Confirm the doorbell has power. If it is a battery model, check that the battery has charge.
- Signal at the doorbell: Check Wi-Fi strength where the device is installed. Ring suggests moving the device closer to the router if possible.
- Wi-Fi band: Every Ring device supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, but 5 GHz support depends on the model. If your doorbell does not connect, check the model’s supported bands rather than assuming it can use 5 GHz. Ring’s FAQ describes this compatibility distinction.
- Alternative network: For persistent disconnections, Ring recommends testing a guest network or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. These are troubleshooting options, not a guarantee that the router or signal is the cause.
If the doorbell remains offline or unresponsive after checking power and signal, Ring lists power cycling and factory reset as later troubleshooting options in its offline-device guide. Treat a reset as an escalation step, not the first move for a routine network change.
