Highlight the theme you want and press OK on the remote to apply it. If the theme you want is not installed yet, you download it first from the same menu.
Menu labels and paths can differ by software version and region. If your menu reads Theme instead of Themes, use that entry and look for theme pack or wallpaper controls. The steps below follow Roku Support’s article How to change the theme pack to adjust the look of the Roku interface, which was updated July 30, 2026.

Apply an installed theme pack
A theme pack is the complete set of visual and audio settings for the Roku interface. The default pack is included with the device, and you can switch between it and any other pack you have installed.
- Press Home on the Roku remote.
- Open Settings.
- Select Themes, then My themes.
- Browse the installed options. Each one previews as you move through the list.
- Highlight the theme you want and press OK.
The change applies to the whole interface, not just the home screen background.

Download a theme pack you do not have
Additional theme packs are free to download through the device’s own Settings menu. Roku’s support page describes two steps for a pack that is not yet installed:
- Open the pack’s details screen and select Get theme pack.
- When installation finishes, return to the same screen and select Set theme pack.
If you have configured an account PIN, Roku says it may be requested when you add a theme pack. Have your PIN ready before you start the download.

What a theme pack changes
Roku describes a theme pack as the setting that “defines the overall look and feel of the Roku interface including the color and style of the menus, background image, screensaver, and navigation sounds.” Setting a pack changes all of those elements together. If you want only one of them, use the individual controls in the next section.

Change only the wallpaper, screensaver, or sounds
You do not have to switch the whole pack to change one element. Open the Theme menu and choose one of the following:

- Screensavers for the idle display.
- Navigation sounds for the audio cues when you move through menus.
Change the screensaver
Roku’s dedicated screensaver instructions give this path: Settings > Theme > Screensavers. From there you can browse the installed options, find and install a new one if needed, and then set the wait time in the Theme menu.
The available screensavers can change over time, and Roku notes that some devices ship with different defaults. If the screensaver you expect is missing, check the list again after updating the device software.

Seasonal and sponsored wallpapers
Seasonal and sponsored wallpapers are turned on by default. To turn either one off, open Settings > Theme, select Seasonal wallpapers or Sponsored wallpapers, and choose Off.

Seasonal wallpapers appear for a limited period. When they expire, the device returns to the background it was using before.

Cost and account PIN
The default theme pack is included with the device. Additional packs are free to download through the device’s Settings menu, according to Roku Support. The only access control the support page mentions is the account PIN, which can be requested when adding a pack.

If you cannot find the option
- If the menu says Theme rather than Themes, look under that entry for pack, wallpaper, or screensaver controls.
- If a screensaver or wallpaper you want is not listed, install it from the same menu, then return to the list.
- If a pack will not download, check that your device is connected to the internet and that your account PIN, if set, is entered correctly.
