Change your iPhone’s date format, temperature unit, and broader measurement system in Settings > General > Language & Region. To make Weather show Celsius or Fahrenheit independently, use its own Units menu. The available date formats and exact labels can vary by region and software version.
Change the date format, temperature, or measurement system
- Open Settings.
- Tap General, then Language & Region.
- Tap Date Format and choose from the formats offered on your iPhone.
- Set Temperature Unit to Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- Set Measurement System to Metric, US, or UK.
Apple lists date format, temperature unit, and measurement system as separate regional preferences. Date format is also separate from calendar format, first day of the week, and number format. The measurement-system choice is the general regional control relevant to distance conventions such as miles and kilometers, but it does not guarantee that every app will use the same units. Set Weather to Celsius or Fahrenheit
Weather has a separate unit control, so its temperature display can differ from the iPhone’s general setting.
- Open the Weather app.
- Open the location list.
- Tap More, then Units.
- Choose Fahrenheit, Celsius, or Use system setting.
For other measurement categories shown in that menu, choose a unit from the menu beside the current value. Apple documents the Weather temperature choices and its system-setting option in its iPhone Weather guide.

If you cannot find a setting
Check Settings > General > Language & Region first. If a label or date-format choice is missing, its display may differ with your region or iOS version; the cited Apple guidance does not list every format or document every version’s menu labels. For Weather, use the location list’s More > Units menu rather than assuming its temperature follows the system preference.
