Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo change the sound from a Samsung washer, first check the exact model’s manual: sound controls are available only on some models, and the button or menu varies. A washer’s chime is separate from SmartThings alerts sent to your phone, so adjust the one you want to change.
Before changing a setting, identify the washer model
Look up the model number on the washer and use that model’s user manual. Samsung notes that sound adjustment is supported only on select washers; if the manual has no sound-toggle instructions, the feature may not be available on that model. Do not assume a button combination from another Samsung washer will work.

Change the washer’s alarm or chime at the control panel
Depending on the model, the panel may have a dedicated Sound, Alarm Off or similar button, or sound may be a secondary function printed near another button. Labels can include Sound Off, Super Speed, Temp. or Extra Rinse. Some secondary functions are activated by holding a button; Samsung Canada says these generally require a three-second hold, but follow the exact instructions for your model.
Samsung’s regional guides illustrate why the manual matters: its India AI Panel example uses a three-second hold on Options, then the navigation dial to select Alarm and choose On or Off. A Samsung UK AI Panel example instead holds Options for five seconds; its LED Panel example holds Spin and Options together for five seconds. These are examples for the panels covered by those guides, not universal steps. See Samsung’s India sound instructions and UK alarm instructions, then use your own model’s manual as the authority.

Adjust sound in SmartThings if your washer supports it
- Connect the compatible washer to SmartThings and open its appliance card.
- Look in the lower part of the card for a Sounds switch or volume slider. Some select models also offer an End-of-cycle Alarm option.
- Change the setting shown for your washer. If no sound control appears, use the control panel and manual instead; connection to SmartThings does not guarantee an in-app sound setting.
Samsung describes these options as model-dependent in its washer sound and chime guidance.
Find sound options on a screen-equipped Bespoke washer
Some Bespoke models with a screen provide sound controls under Settings. Depending on the model, choices can include Sound mode, Sound theme and Volume. Turn off SmartThings phone notifications separately
If the sound you want to stop is an alert on your phone—not a chime from the washer—change SmartThings notifications. Samsung US describes this app-wide route:
Recommended Free Tools
- Open SmartThings and tap Menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Switch Notifications off.
Samsung UK also describes notification settings at the washer level, including Do not disturb and an option to Always allow emergency alerts. The menu names and whether a setting applies to the whole app or an individual appliance may vary by region and app version. See Samsung’s SmartThings notification instructions and UK washer guidance.

What may still make a sound
Turning off the alarm does not necessarily silence every sound. Samsung says alarm controls can disable the cycle-completion chime and power-off sound while leaving button sounds active. Its India guidance also notes that the AddWash alarm and cycle melody are disabled with Alarm Off, but another alert, such as a Child Lock notification, may remain. Treat alarm-off as a control for specified alarms, not a guarantee of complete silence.
Samsung’s India AI Panel and UK alarm guidance say the selected alarm setting persists after the washer restarts for the models covered. That behavior should not be assumed for every model.
