To change a shop price on an Arma 3 Altis Life server, stop the server, edit the active mission’s price configuration, save it, repack the mission if it is a PBO, restart the correct server instance, and verify the shop in game. Standard AsYetUntitled v5.X.X layouts keep individual clothing, vehicle, and weapon prices in separate files under MPMissions/Altis_Life.Altis/.

The most common reason an edit appears to do nothing is that the change was made in an unused source folder, in a different mission template, or inside an unpacked copy while the server is still loading a packed PBO. The file location and packaging format therefore matter as much as the number you change.

Know which file controls the price
Altis Life separates item-level prices by shop category. In a normal loose mission folder, the files are in MPMissions/Altis_Life.Altis/. Use the file that matches the shop you are changing rather than editing a global setting for a single item.

An individual entry normally contains three pieces of data: the game classname, the display name shown to players, and a numeric price. Changing the display name does not change what players pay; changing the numeric field does.

Per-item values versus multipliers
Use a category file when only one item needs a different price. Use Config_Master.hpp when you intentionally want a broad change, such as making every civilian vehicle more expensive or changing a storage fee. A multiplier can affect many transactions that are calculated from a base value, so it is not a substitute for a single-item edit.
Stop the server and make a backup
Do not edit a live mission. Stop the server from the hosting panel or service manager first. Pingperfect’s Altis Life procedure specifically directs administrators to stop the server before opening the file manager.

- Download a copy of the current mission or duplicate the files in the panel’s file manager.
- Record the original price and the new price in your change notes.
- Change one logical group at a time, then test before making a larger economy adjustment.
A backup gives you a quick rollback if a missing comma, quote, bracket, or class name prevents the mission from loading. It also lets you prove whether a later script or framework update replaced your edit.
Find the mission that the server actually loads
First determine whether the server uses an unpacked mission directory or a packed PBO. The active copy is the only copy that can change the in-game result.
Loose mission folder
In a file manager, open MPMissions/Altis_Life.Altis/. The standard files should be visible directly inside the mission’s configuration tree. Open the relevant .hpp file with a plain-text editor that preserves punctuation and encoding.

Packed mission PBO
Many installations deploy the mission as Altis_Life.Altis.pbo inside MPMissions. A PBO is an archive, not an ordinary directory. Unpack it with a PBO utility, edit the extracted mission, and repack the result as the same mission PBO. The framework setup documentation identifies PBO Manager as one packing option and places the server-side framework archive at @life_server/Addons/life_server.pbo; the item prices discussed here are in the mission PBO, not normally in life_server.pbo.

- Download or copy
Altis_Life.Altis.pbowhile the server is stopped. - Extract the PBO to a working folder.
- Open the extracted
Config_Clothing.hpp,Config_Vehicles.hpp,Config_Weapons.hpp, orconfig/Config_Master.hpp. - Make and save the edit.
- Repack the mission so the archive again contains the mission root and its original directory structure.
- Upload the resulting PBO to the active server’s
MPMissionsdirectory, replacing the intended copy only after keeping the backup.
Do not leave both an old and a new archive with confusing names. Confirm that the mission filename matches the template selected in the server configuration; an edited PBO with a different name can be perfectly valid yet never load.
Change an individual clothing, vehicle, or weapon price
Open the file associated with the shop and locate the class or classname for the item. Search by classname rather than by the translated display name, because display names can be duplicated or changed without affecting the game object.
Clothing example
A clothing entry commonly follows this pattern:
["U_C_Poloshirt_burgundy", "Poloshirt Burgundy", 375]In the provider’s example, the original price was 250 and the changed price was 375. To make a different adjustment, replace only the final numeric value and leave the classname, display text, quotation marks, brackets, and separators intact.
Vehicle entry
Find the vehicle classname in Config_Vehicles.hpp and change its numeric price field in the same way. If a vehicle appears in more than one shop or side-specific list, check every matching entry; changing one occurrence does not automatically change another list that uses a separate price.

Weapon or magazine entry
Use Config_Weapons.hpp for weapons and the ammunition or magazine entries defined there. Search for the exact classname, change the intended number, and verify that a similarly named weapon or magazine was not the actual shop item.
Syntax rules that prevent a failed mission
- Keep every opening and closing bracket paired.
- Keep quoted strings quoted and preserve commas between tuple values.
- Use a plain number for the price unless the existing file clearly uses an expression.
- Do not rename a class, alter inheritance, or reformat unrelated entries during a price change.
- Save in the same text format used by the original file.
Make one change, save, and reopen the file to confirm that the value is still present. A syntax error can stop the configuration from being parsed, while a valid but incorrectly targeted classname can leave the intended shop unchanged.
Save, repack, restart, and test
- Save the edited file.
- If the mission was packed, rebuild the PBO and upload the rebuilt archive to the active
MPMissionsdirectory. - Start the same server instance you stopped before editing; do not test a staging or development instance by accident.
- Join the mission with a character who can open the affected shop.
- Check the exact item and compare the displayed price with your change.
Pingperfect’s documented instruction is: “Save then restart the server and check your changes have been accepted.” A restart is necessary because mission configuration is commonly read during mission startup; changing a file on disk while the mission is running does not guarantee a reload.
Change broad economy behavior in Config_Master.hpp
Config_Master.hpp is for values that influence an entire category or a calculated fee. The documented AsYetUntitled layout includes these examples:

The framework documentation warns that fuel-can buy and sell settings can create exploits. Test those settings with both purchase and resale paths, and check that players cannot buy fuel for less than its resulting sale value. The same documentation cautions against setting chop-shop or impound multipliers above purchase or rental multipliers; doing so can produce unintended payouts or fees.

When not to use a global multiplier
If the request is “make one rifle cost more,” do not raise a weapon-wide or vehicle-wide multiplier. If the request is “make every civilian car 20 percent more expensive,” a side purchase multiplier may be appropriate, provided the fork actually calculates that shop through the setting. Read the surrounding comments and existing expressions before changing a value whose name appears in several classes.

The server is loading a PBO
You may have edited an extracted folder while the server continues to read Altis_Life.Altis.pbo. Repack the edited folder, replace the active archive, and restart.

The wrong mission template was edited
Servers can contain several mission names or map variants. Verify the mission selected in the server configuration and make sure its folder or PBO name matches the copy you changed. An edit to Altis_Life.Altis cannot affect a differently named custom template unless that is the one actually running.
The wrong occurrence was changed
A classname can appear in separate civilian, police, medic, rental, or shop lists. Search the complete mission for the classname and inspect each matching entry. The displayed price may come from a second list or from a script that builds the shop dynamically.
The server was not fully restarted
A file upload alone is not a reliable reload. Stop and start the instance, then reconnect and open the shop again. If the panel reports a restart but the process remains online, use the panel’s status and log views to confirm that the old process ended.
A custom script overrides the standard configuration
Custom forks can calculate prices in scripts, store them in a database, or rename and relocate the standard files. If the expected configuration entry is absent, inspect the fork’s documentation and startup errors rather than creating a new file with the standard name. The AsYetUntitled v5.X.X layout is a reference point, not a guarantee for every community fork.

If the mission fails to start, restore the backup and compare the changed line character by character. Check quotes, commas, brackets, class names, and numeric formatting. Reapply one small change, restart, and test before continuing.
A repeatable price-change workflow
- Define the scope: one clothing item, one vehicle, one weapon, or a category-wide economy rule.
- Identify the active mission: confirm the exact mission name and whether it is loose or packed.
- Stop and back up: keep the original mission and note the old value.
- Choose the file: use
Config_Clothing.hpp,Config_Vehicles.hpp,Config_Weapons.hpp, orconfig/Config_Master.hppaccording to the scope. - Change only the intended value: preserve the existing syntax and class structure.
- Repack when required: rebuild
Altis_Life.Altis.pboand upload it to the activeMPMissionsdirectory. - Restart the correct instance: wait for the service to come fully online.
- Verify in game: open the relevant shop and test purchase, rental, sale, fuel, storage, chop-shop, or impound behavior when those systems were changed.
- Roll back cleanly if needed: stop the server, restore the backed-up file or PBO, and restart rather than layering additional guesses onto a broken configuration.
Version and fork boundaries
This procedure is grounded in the AsYetUntitled v5.X.X file layout and a hosting provider’s standard Altis Life instructions. A custom fork may rename files, move the configuration directory, package the mission differently, or replace static prices with scripts or database values. Before editing, compare the files present in your installation with the expected layout and follow the fork’s own startup and packaging conventions.
No general market price or statistical benchmark exists for these settings. Values such as 250, 375, 80, and the documented fuel-can example are implementation values from configuration guidance, not recommended prices for every server. Your server’s player economy, progression design, and custom scripts determine whether a particular number is appropriate.
