If you mean the dark or light appearance of Google’s search page, change it in Google Search’s Appearance settings. These controls change Google Search pages—not the Google Search Console interface.
Change the theme on a computer
- Go to Google and run a search.
- At the top right, open Settings, then select See all settings.
- In the left menu, select Appearance.
- Choose Device default, Dark theme, or Light theme.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Google says the choice is saved on each desktop when you’re signed in. A quick theme switch may also appear in the Settings menu. See Google’s instructions for Search’s dark theme.

Change the theme in a mobile browser
- Open google.com and run a search.
- To have the preference saved across mobile browsers, sign in to your Google Account.
- Open More, then Settings.
- Under Appearance, choose Device default, Dark theme, or Light theme.
Google says the preference is saved on mobile devices and tablets when you’re signed in. A quick switch may also be available under More as a Dark theme control. See Google’s mobile instructions.

Choose the right appearance option

| Device default | Matches the color scheme set on your device. Google says Search pages match the device’s color scheme by default. |
| Dark theme | Displays light text on a dark background. |
| Light theme | Displays dark text on a light background. |
The setting changes the appearance of Google Search pages, including the homepage and search results. It does not change the results themselves.

Does this change Google Search Console?
No. Google Search is where you search the web; Google Search Console is a separate service for site owners to measure Search traffic and performance, fix issues, and understand how Google sees their pages. Google’s theme instructions apply to Search pages, and the available documentation does not describe them as a Search Console theme control. See Google Search Console for the service’s purpose.
