On your Galaxy phone or tablet, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby > Language and voice style > Language, then select an English option if it appears. This changes Bixby’s language, not your phone’s system language. Menu names and available languages can vary by device, region, software, and Bixby version.
Change Bixby’s language in Settings
- Open the device’s Settings app.
- Tap Advanced features.
- Tap Bixby.
- Tap Language and voice style.
- Tap Language.
- Choose an English option from the list, such as English (United States) if it is offered.
Samsung’s instructions are to choose from the languages shown on your device; they do not guarantee that every language is available on every Galaxy model or in every region. Samsung says available settings and language options may vary by Bixby version.

If you can’t find the Bixby menu
Depending on your device and button settings, press and hold the configured Bixby or Side button to open Bixby, then open Bixby Settings and look for Language and voice style > Language. The Side button’s action can be configured, so this shortcut may not work the same way on every device. You can also check the device’s instructions or contact Samsung support for the menu route that matches your model.
What the language setting changes
The Language and voice style setting applies to Bixby; it does not change the phone’s internal language or input settings. You can keep the rest of the device in its current language while setting Bixby to English.

If you use Bixby on more than one Bixby-enabled device, change the setting on each one separately. Samsung notes that each device can have its own language setting.
If English is not listed
- Check the choices actually displayed under Language; Samsung says you can select only from the provided language and voice style options.
- Keep in mind that available choices and menu wording can differ by Bixby version, device model, region, and software version.
- If the documented route does not match your screen, consult support for your specific device and region rather than changing the phone’s system language as a workaround.
Setting up Bixby for the first time
Samsung also provides a language choice during Bixby setup. Setup may request that you sign in to a Samsung account. If Bixby is already configured, use its language setting rather than repeating setup just to change the language.
