How to replace an Optoma projector lamp
Use the instructions for your exact model before removing any cover. The cited Optoma manual calls for at least 30 minutes of cooling; follow your own model’s manual if it specifies a different interval.

- Switch off and cool the projector. Use the projector’s power control and allow it to cool for the time stated in its manual. The cited manual specifies at least 30 minutes.
- Unplug the power cord. Disconnect power before opening the lamp compartment.
- Remove the lamp-compartment cover. Undo the cover fastener or fasteners and lift off the cover as described in the model’s manual.
- Release and remove the lamp module. Remove its fastener or fasteners, raise the handle, and disconnect the lamp connector if the model has one. Lift the module out carefully; do not force the module or connector.
- Fit the compatible replacement. Insert the replacement by reversing the removal steps. On the model covered by the cited manual, the connector must sit flush with its base; incorrect seating can damage the projector.
- Close the compartment and restore power. Refit the cover and fasteners before reconnecting the power cord. The cited manual says the projector will not turn on if the lamp cover is not in place.
- Reset the lamp timer. Turn on the projector and follow the model-specific menu instructions. For the model in the cited manual, use Menu → Setup → Lamp Settings → Lamp Reset → Yes.

Handling precautions
- Keep your fingers off the lamp glass. The manual warns: “Do not touch the glass area of the lamp. Hand oil can cause the lamp shatter.”
- Do not force the lamp module or connector during removal or installation. Check the manual’s alignment and connector instructions if the module does not seat easily.
- Do not operate the projector with the lamp cover removed; refit and fasten it before powering up.
If the projector does not start after replacement
- Check the cover: confirm the lamp-compartment cover is correctly installed and fastened.
- Check the module seating: switch off, unplug, and allow the projector to cool before inspecting the installation. Follow the model manual to confirm the module and any connector are correctly seated.
- Check the timer reset: use the lamp-reset instructions for your model. The cited menu path may not apply to a different Optoma projector.
