Use the TV’s physical buttons or joystick to open its input list, then choose the HDMI number printed beside the port your device is plugged into. The exact controls vary by Element TV platform and model: Roku TV button instructions do not automatically apply to Xumo, Android TV, or other Element models.
Find the TV’s controls and identify its model
Check the rear label, packaging, or manual for the model number and platform. Element TVs have used different platforms, including Roku TV, Xumo TV, and Android TV, so there is no single button sequence that works on every set.

On Roku TVs covered by Element’s Roku TV User Guide, version 12.5, the panel controls may be at the bottom center behind the status-indicator light or along the lower rear edge. They can be hard to spot. Other Element models may put their controls elsewhere.
Use the panel controls to choose HDMI

Match the controls you find to the corresponding pattern in the Element-hosted Roku TV User Guide, version 12.5:

The exact action needed to select an input can depend on the TV.

- Joystick-style control: Press left or right to open the Inputs menu.
- Vertical row of labeled buttons: Press INPUT to open or move through the input choices.
Once the list is open, navigate to the HDMI input that matches the port in use. Some controls may require a separate confirmation action; the guide does not establish one selection sequence for every control design.
Element Xumo TV
Element’s Xumo channel-scan instructions, dated November 20, 2024, describe pressing the TV’s panel power button repeatedly to scroll through the input list. Follow the behavior for your particular Xumo model. The article’s instruction to wait three seconds applies to its specific antenna-channel selection scenario; it is not a general HDMI confirmation rule.

Other Element models
For Android TV or another platform, use the manual for the exact model rather than applying Roku or Xumo steps. Element’s support library provides model-specific materials, and panel controls can differ between models.
Choose the HDMI input that matches the connected device
Look at the label beside the TV’s HDMI socket: for example, if the device is plugged into HDMI 2, choose HDMI2 in the on-screen input list. Element’s March 20, 2020 support article for models E4STA5017 and E4STA5517 lists HDMI1, HDMI2, and HDMI3 as input options and directs users to choose the one corresponding to the port used. Other models may show a different set of inputs.

If the correct HDMI choice is highlighted but the picture does not appear, verify that the device is powered on and connected to that same port. Replacing the HDMI cable does not change the TV’s selected input; input selection is a control or menu action.

Element’s Xumo manual describes pairing a mobile device through the TV settings, while its Android TV manual describes using an Android phone or tablet as a remote. These are platform-specific options, not evidence that every Element TV can be controlled with the same app. Roku TV panel-control and app guidance likewise applies to compatible Roku setups and may depend on the TV and phone being appropriately set up and connected.

If neither the panel controls nor a supported phone option works, use Element’s model-specific support materials to identify a compatible replacement remote. Do not assume a streaming stick can switch the TV’s inputs: HDMI-CEC may allow control between devices on supported setups, but it is not a universal substitute for the TV’s input controls.
